Chapter 23

Heaven's POV

Athan and I got a few hours of sleep before we heard the rustling of bags from down stairs followed by a gentle knock on the door.

Athan got up to answer the door but didn't bother to put any clothes on. He had no shirt on but he had pants on. The pants were unbuttoned and half hanging off with his penis still exposed when he opened the door wide, forgetting that we weren't at his castle.

I saw the wide eyes of a small girl who was Lauren. Athan who was rubbing his eyes had no idea she was standing there but opened his eyes and looked down at the small girl who's eyes were locked on his genitals.

"OH SHIT!" Yelled Athan before slamming the door in her face.

He immediately fixed his pants before opening the door to the still wide eyed girl who stood timidly in the hall.

"Um, z z Zero t t told me to t t tell you to get r r ready to go" she said nervously as she refused to make eye contact with Athan.

"I'm sorry darling" was all he said as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck Unsure of what to say next.

"Ok" she said timidly as she walked down the hall way away from Athan.

Athan walked into the room and shut the door gently before looking at me with annoyance at his actions.

"God damn that was a dick move on my part" he said as he grabbed the bridge of his nose in stress.

"Honestly I think she was just as embarrassed as you, I don't think you have anything to worry about" I said as he walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. He stuck his head out of the shower to speak to me.

"Come my love" he said gesturing me to get in the shower with him.
We showered and got dressed. I watched as he packed both mine and his bags and we went out to the living room where Zero and the others had their things bagged.

Zero looked over at Athan and smiled as if he wanted to make a joke but he didn't.

He looked over a piece of paper and checked things off after naming them out loud.

We set out on our way and the first 20 minutes was dreadfully silent before Zero broke the ice.

"Soooo, Athan. I heard you exposed yourself to Lauren" said Zero with a wide smile.

Athan's eyes grew wide as he looked down at Lauren who was giggling and than back at Zero.

"It was an accident man" laughed Athan "you should have sent Lucifer or one of the men, not a lady"

Zero laughed and shook his head.

"I know it was an accident, I'm just joking with you"

The sky was still dark and it was about 2 in the morning when we came across a part in the forest that was so foggy it was almost as if we were in the dark lands. I could see the silhouettes of our friends and that was it. But I was thankful for that at least.

Zero looked around and held Lauren's hand and Lucifer pulled Mara close to him and right as they did that Athan pulled me close to his side. They were acting as if there was something off about where we were.

"Guys did you hear that" whispered Athan as he looked around.

A small girl ran through the forest and hid behind a tree.

Athan gestured me to go over to Zero and so I did staying close to his side.

Athan's POV

I slowly approached the small girl who stood behind the tree but she hid behind it shaking so I didn't get too close.

"Come out please" I said in a gentle tone as I could hear her heart beating faster and faster.

"We aren't going to hurt you, but you can't be back here, it's very unsafe" I explained as I could see her hair from behind the tree.

She stepped out in the open and I was surprised to see she was naked. I glanced behind me to see the shadows of our friends. I sighed as the child shook with fear and wrapped her arms around herself to hide her body. Zero itched his head in thought.

"Do you have anything she can cover up with" I asked Zero as the small child shivered.

I watched his shadow take off the sack on his back in search of anything.

He pulled out a large shirt and a leather jacket and tossed it over.

I put the clothes on the small child and sat on the dirt with my legs crossed to try and look smaller.

The small child slowly walked up to me and stood just as tall as my head with me sitting.

Within seconds she ran into my arms and violently sobbed. I wrapped my arms around her and rubbed her back in gentle strokes.

"I know you're scared, but everything is going to be okay" I said as I looked back over at my friends who were now a lot closer but not too close.

"Give me something I can wrap her in, I need to safely get her out of the forest lands" I said as Zero handed me a long blanket.

I picked the child up and wrapped her so that she was bound to my chest. I wrapped my jacket around her so that I could test and see if she could easily be hidden if I needed to hide her.

"Are you leaving us?" Asked Zero in a worried tone.

"Yes, but I have your scents buried in my brain, I will be able to find you guys where ever you are, and once I'm done getting her to safety, I will immediately return. Until I return, try and stay out of trouble, don't get yourself seen or heard. The lands we are entering are extremely dangerous and dark"

Zero nodded and the women stuck by mostly him and Lucifer.

I knelt down to speak to Heaven who has never been without me.

"You can't come with me this time my muse, but I trust that Zero and Lucifer will take very good care of you" I said as Zero placed his hand on her shoulder in a protective way.

"I will protect her with my soul just as I do with Lauren"

I nodded and with that I walked off into the forest away from my friends.
