Chapter 24

Zero's POV

Cain turned to me with a worried look.

"He was our main protection wasn't he?" He asked.

"Well if you shut your fucking mouth and speak quieter we can still keep that protection" I said not wanting any of the spirits or evil beings out here to hear us.

We continued walking but we took off our shoes so that our steps would be more quiet.

"We have to find a way to sleep in the trees tonight, it's too risky to sleep on the ground without Athan"

I looked to the tree tops where most of the fog was and that was a good thing because we would be better concealed in the fog covered trees.

I pointed to a tree that had the most fog and the most leaves.

"It's best if we wait till morning to continue, the cults are probably more active at this time of night and it's nearing witching hour so they are probably doing sacrifices"

I started up the tree and grabbed Lauren's hand to lift her up on to the first branch.

Lucifer came up next and grabbed Mara's hand and than after he lifted Heaven up on the same branch.

Once we got up into the fog covered leaves, Drake and Cain climbed up last.

Drake took off his blind fold as the sun was no longer visible.

"I'm not able to feel vibrations as easy up here, I think I should probably sleep on the ground tonight" he said as he stared down with his foggy blue eyes.

"I can make taps on the tree as warnings"

I looked down and around us who were concealed very well.

"Alright, if you think you can fight off any danger down there go ahead" I said as he began to climb down.

I watched as he made himself comfortable right at the trunk of the tree in the dirt. He held up his thumb and hung his head with his blind fold wrapped around his hand.

I laid myself between 2 large branches making myself into what seemed to be a bed for Lauren and I looked over to see that Lucifer and Cain had did the same for Mara and Heaven.

Heaven didn't seem comfortable with sleeping on Cain so she chose a branch for just herself.

I glared at Cain as a warning not to say a word about it and thankfully he didn't.

Lauren laid on my lap and stared down at me. I ran my fingers through her hair and gently kissed her nose as I wrapped my leather around both of us.

It was about 5 in the morning when we were all woken up with the sound and vibration of several violent shakes and taps on the tree from the bottom.

I rubbed my eyes and glanced down at Drake who was looking up into the tree frantically. Cain who who the only one without a girl sleeping on him climbed down and we could only hear the sound of their whispers but not anything of what they were actually saying.

I saw a glimpse of Drakes cloudy eyes looking up into the tree and than back at his surroundings as he pointed to the forest area around them at the bottom.

Cain looked up into the tree and gestured for us to all come down.

Both me and Lucifer woke up Lauren Heaven and Mara.

We made sure they got down safely before we started climbing down and before we knew it we were standing barefoot in the dirt at the very bottom.

Drake looks around aimlessly and speaks so soft that it sounded like one with the wind.
