King Death

Chapter 44

Athan's POV

Lucifer glanced down at Mara as he braided and tangled her hair into thick braids and dread locks.

She began to speak her story of what happened to her while she was with Athan's father.

"I was taken by the vampires and thrown into a room where I was beaten every day. They never showed me mercy and they cut off all my hair as a punishment for talking back to them. I had spirits who came to me and they were the people who had walked with us for a long time before that. And they revealed to me how they had died and why they were protecting us. They had died a terrible death by the same exact vampires that I was being held captive by. They told me Lucifer was on his way to save me and that everything would be alright.

Once Lucifer had arrived there was a giant war that broke out right inside the castle I was enslaved in. Lucifer, Zero and everybody in our group including me had killed every vampire inside the castle and Athan had to kill his own father."

I began to speak after her deciding to tell the rest of what happened.

"After my father had died for his terrible crimes, it was up to me to be king. But I had no intention of ever being king and I passed that title down to Zero.
We lived amongst the humans and the vampires for years. And when we had to go back into the forest to find you. We ended up encountering another cult. Well they did. I had to separate myself again in order to help a human girl to safety. But while I was gone they encountered another cult where Drake got his eyes gouged out and Zero was killed. But I brought him back to live with half human blood and half vampire blood"

Loki's eyes became as wide as ever and he looked at Zero who still rested his head on Lauren's shoulder to comfort her.

"That would mean, Zero is king of the vampires, and a vampire?"

I nodded my head. "He's half vampire. But you can't tell anybody this. And if you do I will hunt you down" I said as I softened my face and spoke calmer. "This is also why Zero has to open his 3rd eye so that he can defeat king Key and stop his rein over the humans. King key as we speak is still murdering and burning witches at the steak"

Loki raised his hands in defense and widened his eyes more in fear.

"Don't worry Dude, I won't tell nobody your secret. I cross my heart and hope to die" he said as he lowered his hands and slouched once I softened my stare on him.

"Dude you don't realize how scary you can be" he said and I smiled at the thought.

"I don't mean to be, it's kind of a vampire thing and it has to be that way so that people don't cross me. Nobody has attempted to cross me yet but there has been many who has crossed Zero"

Zero looked up and smiled. "Yea and what happened to those who crossed me?" He said with a chuckle as if I were calling him a push over.

"Oh trust me, I'm not calling you a push over. Cause those who crossed you definitely got what they deserved but I don't want to give anybody the chance to ever cross me because I don't wanna have to be the one to make them pay the price. I'm a gentle man until provoked" I said as we all looked at Drake who was silently listening.

"What's your story Drake?" Asked Loki as he stared at him from across the fire.

"Hmmm" he said in thought as if he were trying to remember something about himself.

"I met Athan back years ago. It was my sister and I that were living with a few other men in the forests of Riona. My sister was afraid of him and I'm going to be honest. I was too sense I wasn't able to actually see him. But this was back when I still had my blue eyes. I was blind but I could still see very small amounts and when I say very small I mean only shadows that were absorbed with immense light. But I soon warmed up to him once I realized he wasn't of any danger to me or anybody I was around. My sister remained distrusting and ran off. I had ended up leaving with Athan because I knew there was going to be a big war between the shadow cults and my people. I had got letters later that year saying that my parents and sister had perished in the war along side my older brothers. They didn't tell me how they had died, apparently they were saving me the headache of telling me. But I blame myself for not being there. I ran like a coward simply because I was afraid to fight in the war. And I will live with that mistake for the rest of my life"

He said as he hung his head and only sniffled his nose as if he was crying but no tears ran down his face.

I don't believe he eyes were capable of making tears anymore. But I felt extreme sadness for him. A man that couldn't even shed tears was crying over the death of his family. Lucifer stood up and walked over to him sitting next to him and wrapping his arm around his shoulder.

"Don't worry man. We have your back. Don't feel guilty for being scared. It's a human emotion and back than, you were just a young boy. You were only 18 years old. But look at you now. Your 22 years old and stronger than you could even think. I mean you had your eyes gouged out and your still standing tall with your head held high. Strength is not determined upon decisions and mistakes but upon the man they have built. And I promise you, you are one of the strongest I know. This is why we chose you to come with us on this journey we are on right now"

Loki sat and stared at them for a long time. He waited until they were done speaking before he spoke his mind.

"Listen, I know what your guys problem is. These cults will destroy as soon as they sense even the slightest form of weakness. You have to straight up dominate because they are ruthless killers who will strike at just a single scent of fear. When around the cults you have no fucking fear and that alone will save your life. The more they are able to scare you, the more deadly they become. Fear gets their dicks hard and it's something that makes them want to harm you more just for the high" he explained very carefully.

"How do I scare them before they scare me tho. I mean I'm not easily scared but the cults I have witnessed are brutal as fuck" said Zero as he lit a joint from his pocket taking the first 3 hits one after another.

He rested the joint between his fingers and let his wrist lay relaxed on his knee. Only bringing his hand up every 10 seconds to take another hit of the joint.

"If you want, you and I can go visit a certain cult that has been causing me trouble. I can get what I want from them and at the same time be teaching you how to intimidate without even causing much harm"

Zero looked confused at his words as he stared at the ground while taking hit after hit of his joint.

He exhaled the smoke around him before speaking.

"If they have been causing you trouble, I can only assume it's big trouble if you feel the need to invade their land?" He asked as if he thought the idea was completely stupid.

Loki shrugged his shoulders and held his hand out for Zero to pass the joint. Zero glanced down at the joint and than back at Loki. He rolled his eyes just slightly but wasn't angry just annoyed. He flicked the joint to Loki and he caught it between his fingers and raised it to his mouth before taking 2 hits and flicking it back where Zero did the same thing.

"I don't kill people unless they are deserving of death my pupil" said Loki with a slight smile.

Zero took another hit of the joint and kept it in between his fingers.

"So is your plan to kill them or not because I have killed many already and I refuse to watch the death of people who have not personally wronged myself or my family" said Zero without a single stutter.

"I don't plan on killing anybody" Loki paused and looked off into space in thought. "I plan of possibly knocking a couple of them on their ass if they get in the way of me taking what is owed to me. But I am not a murderous man" he took another hit of Zero's joint and flicked it back to him before continuing his rant.

"But let me warn you, once you see them and their home, you will WANT them dead. They are complete monsters. They have a whole fucking town where they walk their women around on leashes as fucking slaves" they both glanced at me as I cut in with my thoughts.

"A lot of your people have the same views tho. My muse earlier today, was told she wasn't allowed to speak without the permission of a man, do you or do you not have the same views?" I asked eager to understand if what Loki stood for was good or evil.

"Define (same views)" said Loki as he sat still as if he were in thought.

"Rape is evil, protecting your women is good. It's our responsibility as men to protect our women from the ones who wish to harm their body's and souls" I said flatly as I condescendingly took the joint from his hand placing it in my mouth to take a long 2 drags before flicking it back to Zero and not Loki.
