Chapter 37

Lucifer's POV

There was a strange and eerie sound coming from the distant waves. It sounded like a women singing.

Her words were loud and clear and it sent shivers down my spine.

"Beautiful men of the ocean blue, hear my voice I sing to you. Follow me through the sea. I'll make your souls feel free. I sing these words for you to hear for the souls of men are precious and dear"

We soon reached a huge cloud of fog and before too long all of our rafts were floating within the most thick cloud of ocean fog.

Her voice was now so loud that it was if she was right next to us but we couldn't see her.

Zero stood ontop of his raft and tried his best to see through the fog.

"Beautiful men of the ocean blue, follow my voice and I'll sing to you. Forever free with me to see. The wonders within the breathing sea"

I watched Cain stand up and walk to the edge of his raft in a daze and Zero quickly yelled out to him.

"Don't do it Cain, it will kill you!!" He yelled as Cain shot his head at Zero. His eyes were like a deer caught in bright lights as he looked totally confused.

He mumbled words that we couldn't understand until he said his next words.

"I I I need to protect her"

Zero started rapidly trying to steer his raft over to Cains as he yelled out.

"Cain, do not leave your raft!" He said as Cain lowered himself in the water and began swimming across the fog.

"God fucking damnit!!" Yelled zero as he began trying to get over to him faster.

Cain began swimming through the foggy water and began to disappear through the fog. Zero jumped from raft to raft and eventually landed on mine after jolting Drake and Athan awake by jumping on theirs.

I grabbed Zero's leather by the neck, stopping him from going any further.

"He's gone, it's too dangerous to go find him"

Lauren's POV

I watched in silence as Zero who was dressed all in black stood within the fog yelling at Cain not to go into the water. But I had a sinking feeling that Cain was confused and would do it anyways.

Cain always listened to Zero but there was a look in his eyes as if he didn't even understand where he was in the first place. Zero jumped across the rafts inorder to hopefully pull him back on the raft but he was too late. Cain was gone within the mist of the fog and we couldn't even see him anymore.

Zero stood in shock as Lucifer held on to his leather stopping him from going any further. Zero stared off into the distant fog where Cain had swam through.

"It's ok man, right now the waters are calm, if he isn't harmed he should come to his senses and be able to swim back safely"

Zero hung his head and shook his head as he sat on his knees.

"No, he's already dead or dying. Whatever was singing was purposely trying to lure at least one of us and the singing stopped once he crossed the fog. Whatever it was most likely took him under" he said in a sad voice.

Lucifer sat next to him and the other men rubbed their eyes in both confusion of what was happening and in tiredness.

Zero glanced over at the others who sat in silence. He mumbled under his breath but we all heard him.

"Please don't listen to any of the eerie voices, they don't mean us well"

Heaven glanced at Zero through tired eyes as she still rested her body against Athan.

"What happened"

Zero ran his fingers through his own hair. "Don't worry about it hun, Cain won't be traveling with us anymore, he went his separate ways"

Once everything calmed down everything and everybody was silent. Zero and Lucifer talked almost secretively. Zero sat with his back facing me and Lucifer sat so that he could see everybody around them. They passed a joint back and forth and talked among themselves.

I calmly watched the waves and ran my hand through the water with boredom.

Lucifer's POV

"So how come you made the middle finger on your sale" asked Zero as he looked up at my sale.

I smiled and laughed. "Ah yes, I have quite a bit of enemy's that reside in the lands we are going to. They don't exactly believe in the gods that we do and they called Freya ugly"

Zero smiled and just about choked on the smoke coming from his mouth.

"I don't wanna know what you did to them to cause them to hate you so much"

I took another hit of the joint and spoke as the air escaped my lungs.

"Yes it was 10 years ago, many people had told me my Goddess was ugly and or evil. And you know I ignored them for a long time until every single time I entered a shop they would crack a joke. So I filled their villages will stink gas and just left"

Zero took another hit of the joint and smiled an amused smile. "Your going to crack jokes at them when we get there aren't you?"

"Yes yes I am" said Lucifer with a devious smile. "Oh yea they are also on some kind of kick that I'm the antichrist" he added as he rolled his eyes.
