Nico's POV

"Nico, let me go." She snapped at me, struggling to get out of my grip.
"I know what you're gonna do though." I replied in a quiet voice. "You're going to run. I can't let that happen."
I didn't want her to go, I wanted her to stay with me. No matter how annoying she was.
She stopped struggling and sat back down in my lap, before swivelling around to turn to me.

"Nico-" she began when I cut her off with a gasp. A glowing symbol of an owl flew above her head, its dark intelligent eyes staring at me. Pietra looked at me curiously, before noticing what I was doing. She looked up and saw the symbol, looking at it with confusion. Before I could ask myself what the Hades was going on, I quickly grabbed her wrist and shadow traveled to the big house, the owl still circling above her head.

"Chiron!" I shouted and almost immediately, Chiron poked his head out of an open door. Was he just standing there, waiting for someone to come in? He understood what I wanted him for when he saw Pietra.

Pietra looked even more confused than I felt. Her eyebrows were furrowed and she was biting her bottom lip nervously. Why was she being claimed again by a different Goddess?
Chiron's gaze flickered back and forth between Pietra and I.

10 seconds passed, and the owl flew directly infront of Pietra, staring her straight in the eye. She glared back, before the owl swooped and flew straight through her chest. Chiron sighed, like this was a usual occurrence, and scratched his beard. "We will be leaving for Olympus tomorrow but for now, Nico, take care of Pietra, make sure you are with her constantly, she will need your protection."
Pietra's confused expression turned into a completely furious one.
"What? Are you saying I can't look after myself? I don't need anyone's protection." Pietra snapped at Chiron.
"Just please, Child, stay with him." She rolled her eyes and marched out, slamming the door behind her.

Chiron gave me a serious look, and I nodded in reply before swinging the door open and running after her. "Pietra, I don't know what's happening either but we will figure this out." I told Pietra, seeing the annoyed but worried look on her face.

She scowled at me pushed the arm that I put over her shoulder away.
"I can't believe I came with you! I was so stupid to do that! I should've left you as soon as we got out of the Underworld! Then, I wouldn't be in this mess!" Pietra shouted at me. Obviously, Pietra thought I was worthless except for when she could use me.
"Pietra-"
"No! Leave me alone! I don't need your protection" she spat the word 'protection', "and I don't want to talk to you!" She pushed me away, turning and walking over to the forest.
I ran up to follow her, but she whipped around and punched me in the shoulder. "GO AWAY."

Pietra's POV

As soon as the words escaped my lips, I regreted them. Nico looked at me with hurt in his eyes, then quickly lowered his gaze to the ground and turned around, ready to walk off. But just as I thought I would be able to run after him and say sorry, he shadow travels. He probably went to his cabin. While I sprinted after him, I cursed my stupid mouth. I was so stupid. It wasn't Nico's fault, I shouldn't have blamed him.
I burst through the door, and was met with a shirtless Nico, a can of RedBull clutched in his hands and music blearing through the speakers that was located under his TV.

How Nico didn't hear my entrance is a question that Zeus wouldn't even be able to answer. Well... actually his 'Black Veil Brides' music was blowing my eardrums so I guess it does make sense...

Anyway, I watched Nico drain a can of RedBull in about 2 seconds and then shadow travel off somewhere. He appeared a 15 seconds later with a 6 pack of RedBull in his hand and he still didn't see me.

He drained a second, third, fourth can and was about to start his fifth when I stopped him. I walked up to him, grabbed his hand and stopped him from getting a 5th drink. Letting go of his hand, I grabbed the empty cans, as well as the leftover of the case and shadow travelled to an alleyway where I chucked them on the ground. I then shadow travelled back to Nico. He was staring into the space that I was just in with shock, and I frowned at the sight of Nico's usually dark and deep eyes, normally full of understanding and knowledge, now bloodshot and emotionless.

I then walked over to the speaker system and flicked a button that brought back peace in the cabin. Yep, the glorious 'off' button. The silence filled the room, and when I was about to turn back to Nico, a photo caught my eye. Next to the speaker system a picture of a young looking Nico, with a girl who looked a little older than him. My curiousity got the better of me and I turned the piece of paper over and saw that it had writing on the back.

Nico & Bianca Di angelo

Bianca, a sister whom I love, who always looked out for me. She risked her life to save 4 others, Percy, Grover, Thalia and Zoe.

Bianca, I remember that name. Percy and Annabeth had told me about her at dinner. They had secretly snuck out of their spots while Nico was getting his food and told me about her, the blood sister of Nico.
I admired her so much, because even at that young age, she knew about sacrifice and was brave enough to put herself forward and face what had to be done.
When Nico had come back and asked us what we were talking about, Annabeth had ruffled Percy's hair and said that she was sharing all the Seaweed Brain stories with me.

I walked over to Nico, grabbed his hand and sat him down on the bed. I sat down with him, and his eyes never left mine. He would be feeling completely sick by now, but all that I could do to help was to get him to sleep, so he could snooze it off.
I don't know why, but I had the sudden urge to sing, and lyrics that I wasn't even making up flew out of my mouth...

Close your eyes, I know what you see.
The darkness is high, and you're in 10 feet deep.
But we've survived, more terrible monsters than sleep,
And you know I, will be here to tell you to breathe.

Tu sei il mio soldatino (you're my little soldier)
la ragione per cui vivo (the reason i live)
non ti scordar di me (don't forget me)
io vegliero su di te (i'm watching over you)

Stumbling lost
The last choice of all that you meet
It's the cost
Of ruling those 'neath you feet
Paths you've crossed, and trust you're trying to keep
You're exhausted
Listening for a voice that can't speak - Ma nico mio caro

Tu sei il mio soldatino (you're my little soldier)
a ragione ho vissuto (the reason i live)
non ti scordar di me (don't forget me)
io vegliero su di te (i'm watching over you)

So you run
Through shadows you roam
Seams undone
By the love you thought you could own
But he's just one
Of many that you might call home
And maybe someday, the bitter will fade from your bones
Fade from your bones...

eri il mio soldatino (you were my little soldier)
ora un principe oscuro (now a dark prince)
ma anche per te, c'e una luce (but even for you, there is a light)
che ad un'altra vita ti conduce (that leads you to another life)

It felt as if someone was speaking through me, using my voice as there's...
When I had finished, Nico was fast asleep, his head in my lap. I leaned against the wall and nodded off to sleep as well.
Not before smiling back at a ghost who was standing in the corner.
A ghost that looked exactly like Bianca...
