Who should I ask?

Nico's POV

The shadows faded from my vision and I looked around at the familiar mess of my cabin. Unwillingly, I removed my arms from around Pietra's waist as she looked up to see where we were.

I walked to the other side of my cabin and sat on my bed while Pietra dropped onto the couch, reaching for the TV remote. The TV flashed to life and I watched as Pietra flicked through the channels. I raised my eyebrows at her when she stopped it at channel 99, an unfamiliar cartoon playing on the screen and a satisfied look on her face. I rolled my eyes.

"What are you, 10?" I motioned to the cartoon. She rolled her eyes and then crossed her arms in front of her. "Excuse you! This is the most awesome TV show there is!"
"What even is it? I mean, c'mon, what is up with that yellow thing." I pointed to a yellow drawing on the screen that vaguely looked like a dog, but it stretched and changed shape at random times.
"As if you don't know this show! It's Adventure Time!" she sang the last line while I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever!" I snatched the remote from her grasp and turned the TV off. "It's almost lunch time and I'm starving!" I started walking to the door.

She was about to say something but her stomach groaned loudly, followed by a loud groan that she made as she lifted herself off the couch. "Fine." she mumbled, and walked over too me. I smirked, that was too easy. She rolled her eyes [I feel like we both have done that way too many times], while I held the door open for her and walked out behind her.

As we reached the Big House, we bumped into Leo, Jason, Piper, Percy and Annabeth, who were walking to the tables. They all had excited expressions on their faces at the thought of food and I mentally grinned at their excitement.

"Hi Guys!" I called out to them. They turned around and grinned at us, stopping so we could catch up. "Hey!" They all said in unison, and I took a quick glance at Pietra, who was arching an eyebrow.
"Did you rehearse that or something?" she laughed, shaking her head. They all looked at each other.

"Definitely!" They said in unison, then burst out laughing. I rolled my eyes and saw Pietra doing the same [again, what's with this eye-rolling!].
"Anyway, lets get some food, I'm starving!" Pietra exclaimed while everyone nodded in agreement.
We were about to come take our spots in the dining hall, when Chiron started banging his hoof, wanting to make an announcement. He frowned at Pietra, but then noticed that everyone was waiting to hear what he was going to say.

He coughed, "I have an announcement to make, demigods! Next week, we will be holding a camp dance!" Pietra and I groaned in synchronisation, dropping our heads into our hands, and everyone turned to glare at us. "Everyone has to come with a partner and there will be music, lights, food and drinks. It is mandatory to be there." I could tell that the last comment was directed at Pietra and I.

"I will be looking forward to seeing everyone there," he glanced at us, "and if anyone is interested in helping out with setting up the dance, there is a sign up sheet that will be on the notice board near the camp store." Chiron returned to his seat and all the talking started back up again.

I noticed that the whole Aphrodite table, including Piper, had gone to put their name on the sign up sheet, and they were running as fast as they could without ruining their shoes in the mud, squealing excitedly. Pietra noticed as well and rolled her eyes, before going up to get some food.

I listened to Percy ask Annabeth to go with him, and Jason tell Leo that we will find someone for him to go with. Leo then suddenly jumped up and started asking random girls if they would come with him to the dance. Typical Leo. I went to go get some food and thought about who I would ask to the dance.

Of course my first thought was Pietra, but I don't know if I could work up the courage to ask her, and knowing her, she most likely had already hatched a plan to make sure that she didn't have to go to the dance anyway. I sighed, this is going to be harder than I thought.

I sat back down at the Hades table, where Pietra was already sitting down, eating her food. Percy and Annabeth came to sit down with us once they had gotten their food, even though it was the 'Hades Cabin' table, but Chiron didn't seem to mind.

Piper had returned from signing up with a proud look on her face, and Jason took the opportunity to ask her then, which she answered by squealing in delight. Leo was still trying to get a random girl to go with him and I wondered whether I should just do that. Who knows, I might get lucky?

The hushed sound of Pietra's voice interrupted my thoughts, "Why would Piper actually volunteer to help with the dance?" She looked genuinely confused.

I replied be rolling my eyes."You are the complete opposite of all the girls I know."

"Maybe so, but that's why you love me so much!" she said, teasing me. I knew she was just playing around but that didn't stop me from turning bright red. I turned back to my food, but then mumbled something to her.

"Can you come with me to the dance then?"

She raised an eyebrow, and then rolled her eyes. "I guess that will be the least painful way."

I rolled my eyes, "Gee thanks." I said sarcastically, elbowing her in the ribs.

"Your welcome babe." She stretched the word out long, just to tease me and I felt myself turn in to a tomato again as she laughed at me.
