Donghyuck had received the call from Jaemin halfway through the meeting.

After returning back to the room and sliding into his seat at the round table, he was silent. The only two people to really notice were Mark and Chenle. But they couldn't really do much seeing as the meeting was still in progress.

Donghyuck remained quiet for the rest of the meeting, letting Mark and Chenle do a lot of the talking for him and only speaking when directly spoken to.

He knew that something like this would happen. Why didn't he just come clean? They would've understood, wouldn't they?

"Goodnight, Haechan. You did well today," his manager smiled, patting him on the back.

Donghyuck returned a quick smile before turning to the right and making his way back to one of the empty studios he frequently found himself in.

He immediately locked the door and went over to the rolling chair, dropped himself onto it, and threw his head back.

So many mistakes in such a short lifetime and almost all of them could have been fixed if he had just communicated well.

But at the moment, his biggest mistake was leaving his friends without any word on where he was going or even a decent heads up.

Maybe they wouldn't be mad at him if he actually explained what was going on. He knew them and how supportive they were yet he still decided to leave without even trying to tell them what was happening.

At first, he couldn't understand why they were so mad at him.

It's his life, isn't it? He shouldn't feel obligated to tell them everything he did in his life. They're adults, they don't need him to take care of them.

He scoffed at his own thoughts. What kind of friend thinks such a way?

He left them for years, not even having the decency to tell them where he was going. They had no way to communicate with him for the past years and suddenly he shows up in their lives while dragging along Mark and Chenle?

And then he did it again. He left. And he managed to leave them in the dark once again. Even after already knowing what Minyeon thought was going to happen.

What kind of friend does that?

Not a very good one, from what he could tell.

His eyes squinted as he turned his phone on. It immediately illuminated within the dark room, slightly burning his eyes.

His first instinct was to go to his messages. He tapped on the first one that he saw and upon reading the message, he felt a sting.
