A Week Later

"Okay, we seriously have to go home now."

Donghyuck sighed, "right, right. I just have to do some stuff really quickly. I'll be ready to leave in like an hour or so."

"An hour," Chenle exclaimed, throwing his head back. "We don't have all the time in the world, Haechan."

Donghyuck nodded, "I know, I know. I just need to do some stuff really quickly. I'll be ready before you even know it."

Mark and Chenle didn't have much time to argue with the boy as he headed out of the house, two destinations in mind.

He was definitely nervous as he began the way to his first destination. This conversation can go one of three ways and he was hoping that by the time he left, he wasn't disappointed.

His stomach rumbled as he parked outside the house. He wasn't sure if it was because he was nervous or hungry but he didn't really care enough to go about fixing either one.

His footsteps were heavy against the ground as he walked up to the front door, already planning out what the conversation would be like.

It only took a few knocks before the door was pulled open.

Minyeon smiled, "oh, hey, Donghyuck."

The older boy followed her into the house, finding his way to the couch where he greeted Renjun.

"What's up? I didn't know you'd be stopping by today," Renjun said, looking between the cat in his lap and his friend sitting on the couch across from him.

Donghyuck shifted nervously in his spot, "so, uh, I wanted to come to talk to you two about something important that could potentially change... a lot."

Minyeon and Renjun shared a confused look before looking back at Donghyuck, ready for anything he was gonna throw at them.

"I was talking with some of the staff at the company I work at. I shared some lyrics that Minyeon and I were working on together and the producers... want to meet you. They're thinking about adding you to the company."

Minyeon's eyes widened immediately. She looked between the two boys, not really sure what to think.

"Oh my god, that's amazing," Renjun smiled.

"There's more," Donghyuck stopped them. "Renjun, I shared some of your artwork with them as well. They've been looking for new artists to design some album covers and they wanted to know if you'd be interested."

Renjun stood up hastily, his body reacting before his mind. "You're kidding."

Donghyuck shook his head, a large smile on his lips. "I'm not! I've got to head out for one last errand before we leave for Seoul again but if you guys are up for it all, meet me over there in the next few days, the offers expire in a week."

Renjun and Minyeon thanked their friend before he left. Of course, they were excited about the news but they still had to think it over. They had lives and Minyeon's family that lived a bit away from Seoul that would definitely have to be thought about.

It didn't take long for Donghyuck to arrive at the next location, even more nervous than before.

"You can talk to her, don't even worry."

For the past week, Donghyuck had taken his chances at talking to Aera. After facing the hard truth with Minyeon, he knew it was inevitable before he found himself falling head over heels for another girl.

And while at first, he wasn't sure about his feelings, he was happy that Minyeon had rejected him.

She and Renjun made a great pair and the more he thought about it, Donghyuck realized he wasn't chasing after the Minyeon of today. He was chasing after the idea of her and the girl he knew before he left home.

But now it was finally his chance to reach out and do something new with his life. And that something new involved going out with a new girl.

Aera and Donghyuck had been on two dates in the span of just one week and things were moving a bit quicker than they had really anticipated.

But that didn't mean that they didn't like the pace. The two were happy really getting to know each other and it was a lot easier for that to happen when Donghyuck was continuously showing up late at night just for the chance to see Aera at work.

And kinda to his surprise, she was working every night he came in.

Aera wasn't really just a secret for himself. He had told the others about her a day or two prior and was pleasantly surprised to find out that she was a close friend of Jaemin and Minyeon thanks to their mothers.

Once again, he found himself going up the all too familiar steps to get inside. His mood changed quickly when he noticed Aera already walking his way. Immediately, he felt a surge in his chest.

"What are you doing here during the day?" She smiled, grabbing a menu.

Donghyuck stopped her, putting the menu back on the podium. "I needed to tell- or ask, I don't know- I just needed to talk to you really quickly."

"And you couldn't just text me?" She laughed slightly. Her right arm reached upward, fixing the piece of hair sticking up on the boy's neat head of hair.

"No, no, it's a bit important," he shifted. "I'm going back to Seoul today and I know we haven't had that much time to get to really know each other as much as you may have wanted but I really needed to ask you this before I leave so just hear me out. Will you please be my girlfriend?"

The question did come as a bit of a surprise to Aera but it only took a minute for her to regain her composure.

She smiled, now running a hand through Donghyuck's soft hair to make it messy again- a trait that Donghyuck found she had a habit of doing to him when she was pretty happy.

"All that just to ask if I wanted to be your girlfriend?" She joked. "Yes, of course, I'll be your girlfriend."

Donghyuck let out a deep breath and let his head drop a bit, "you have no idea how fast my heart is racing right now."
