"Hey, why'd you leave so suddenly?"

Renjun's side of the phone was quiet for a bit too long, making Minyeon confused. Her left arm pushed against her mattress as she pushed her body up into a sitting position.

"Renjun? You there?"

"Huh? Yeah- yeah. I'm still here."

The brown-haired boy stopped pacing, instead looking outside his window towards the moon glowing nearby.

Minyeon got up from her bed for a second and walked outside of her bedroom. She waited for Renjun to respond while she walked into the kitchen.

"So, you gonna answer the question?" Minyeon laughed slightly, opening the refrigerator. The plate holding leftover spaghetti from the night before was a bit heavier than she originally thought, leaving her to nearly drop it when she tried grabbing it with one hand.

"Oh, right!" Renjun laughed awkwardly. "Uh, I forgot that I had to... um..." there was a long break in his sentence, "feed my cat!"

Renjun grimaced on the other side of the phone, tempted to begin hitting his head on the counter out of pure embarrassment.

Minyeon stared at her food spinning inside the glowing microwave with a raised eyebrow. "Ren, you don't... own a cat?"

Renjun ruffled his hair violently, trying to think of an excuse quickly. "I found a stray outside yesterday! And... I uh, took her in. You can come see her tomorrow!"

'Are you kidding me?' Renjun thought to himself. He had no cat and apparently no brain either.

Minyeon smiled enthusiastically, "amazing! What time-"

Renjun panicked, "um- yep. See you tomorrow! Make sure to eat. Goodnight."

The sound of both phones ending the call echoed through their different rooms. Minyeon didn't think too much of it, only pushing her phone into her pocket and grabbing her food to take back to her room.

Renjun placed his phone down, rubbing his face harshly. His action only continued for a second before he stopped and took a deep breath.

His arms reached out onto the countertop as he leaned onto them. He sighed, trying to think about what in the world he was gonna do.

He stood up straight and picked up his phone to take a look at the time. It was only nine and the pet shelter nearby was open around the clock.

Picking up his phone, he walked over to the door, picked up his keys and wallet, and began his way over to his car.

It didn't take long for him to arrive at the animal shelter. Getting out of the car, he was quick to find his way inside.

It was like time was passing by in slow motion as soon as he walked inside. He originally thought that adopting a cat wouldn't take very long. But he was very, very wrong.

It was nearly eleven by the time he left. The good news was that he believed he got lucky with his new pet.

The gray tabby cat was quiet the whole ride home, her body curled into a tight ball as she slept peacefully in the passenger seat.

"Good thing they had extra supplies," Renjun said to himself. He reached into the back seat, grabbing the bag holding everything together.

The sound of the bag resulting must have wakened up the cat, her yawns making Renjun smile. Her paws stretched out in the seat, her tail going up as she began walking towards her new owner.

Her purrs were loud as she let Renjun scoop her up with one arm, letting her head nuzzle into his neck as they approached the door.

"You're quite adorable," he smiled, setting down the bag on the kitchen table. The cat purred as he set her down beside the bag carefully.

"And a bit clingy, but I guess that's okay," he laughed, petting her head as she leaned into his stomach.

The cat didn't seem to be listening as she finally began walking away to get a feel of her new house.

Renjun unpacked the bag, finding a new spot to put the litter box, food and drinking bowls, and the bed.

"Uh, I'll be honest here. I sleep in the living room just as often as I sleep in my bedroom. So I think we're just gonna crash in here for tonight," he said to the cat, not really expecting a response.

The cat didn't seem to mind, following him over to the couch before snuggling into her new fluffy bed.

"This seems like it's gonna be a lot easier than I've heard. Please don't trick me into thinking you're a perfect cat and then turn around and ruin my house," Renjun pleaded, petting her softly.

She looked up at him with round eyes, meowing softly. The young adult couldn't control his heart as he watched the cute animal and found himself petting her for a few more minutes before finally deciding to get ready for bed.

He walked into the bathroom, the sound of the cat's paws running behind him making him smile.

He watched her jump onto the counter as he pulled out his toothbrush. "Not sure if you were my most responsible purchase," he laughed.

° A N T I - R O M A N T I C °

renjun's new cat is actually inspired by my families new cat. she's technically my little brothers cat but it's seems she likes me the most cause she's always wanting me to pet her and she likes sleeping by me too.

i don't really mind tho. she's rlly adorable. she's just renjun's new cat- like she's a gray tabby cat that's clingy and stuff except she's a kitten.

she's litter box trained already so we never really have to worry abt her. the only time we have to be careful around her is when the doors are open. she doesn't like being outside but she likes seeing what's outside, u know?

we've gone outside with her before but she doesn't like walking or stuff but she loves when i pick her up and take her outside with our dogs so she can see what all's going on out there.

she's also not a fan of the cold tho so she doesn't like being out there for too long or she'll start shivering.

but anyways i hope you guys all enjoyed this chapter!

what should renjun name his new cat?
