"Is it too late to go back?"
Mark and Chenle shared a tired look before Chenle faced the road once again. "Haechan, why are you already wanting to go back? We just got here two hours ago. It was fun hanging out with Jeno, Jaemin, and Jisung again."
Donghyuck sighed over the phone. "I'll tell you guys when you get back to the hotel. Just be safe."
The sound of the two boys echoed from his phone as he pulled it away from his ear, ending the call before saying goodbye.
His heart pounded as he let his phone fall into the passenger seat. His grip tightened on the wheel as the tires of the metal box turned swiftly into a diner parking lot.
His cars windows were rolled down, not only allowing for the summer nights breeze to come in but also the smell of the all too familiar eating establishment.
He contemplated walking inside. Did he really want to face him in this conversation? It could end up embarrassing him even further than he already had.
He took in a deep breath and unbuckled his uncomfortable seatbelt. His arms reached back onto the wheel and for a second he just sat there staring outside of the window with an absent mind that was full of millions of thoughts at the same time.
Was this really how his life was going? Just a mere month ago he was back in Seoul living his dream. And now? He was fighting to get his childhood friendships back.
But was it truly worth it?
He still wasn't sure. But that didn't mean he wasn't gonna try to do the absolute best he could to rekindle their friendships.
The one big problem was that he couldn't tell if Minyeon even had feelings for him anymore. He still liked her, that much was obvious.
But in the time that he had been gone, she had grown so much more than him. And the possibility of her feelings changing for him were very high.
The sound of raindrops beginning to fall made him blink. He ignored the slightly burning sensation and grabbed his phone, keys, and wallet before making his way inside.
His eyes immediately glanced around the entire restaurant as he stood in line behind two couples.
His foot tapped impatiently against the hardwood floors, trying to find the person he had asked to come.
After looking around, he still hadn't found them. He was unsure of whether they were just in the back part of the restaurant or if they hadn't arrived yet.
His stomach began to rumble but he wasn't sure if it was from the anxiety pit inside his body or if he was just hungrier than he had originally thought.
Either way, he ignored the sounds and stood up straight, watching one of the couples get escorted to a table while another staff employee walked over to take the next people wherever they were going.
