matt pov:
buck pushes me to the ground so i don't get hit. i stare watching kelly life be drained out of him. i make a move and roll under the fire truck so ican get kelly. i pull him in. i lift him up and put him inside the truck everyone gets in and kidd starts driving i faintly here buck talking over the radio. kelly slowly open his eyes. " kelly come on baby stay with me". we get to med within minutes. i am left at the entrance with my clothes soaked with blood froze. i faintly here dr. rhodes say prep him for emergancy surgrey. i come back to reality when i feel a hand on my shoulder. its buck. he says "he is going to be okay". i say "ya" trying my best to believe it. nurse.lookwood comes over. she says "captain casey". i say "hm". she says "he is in surgrey come on i will take you to the waiting room. we all go to the waiting room. i take a seat next to buck and chief. my face in my hand trying to cover my tears.
i remember the twins. i have to call amelia. i slowley get up. feeling everyones eyes on me. i go down a empty hallway. my hands shaking i pull my phone out and call amelia. she answers with her happy voice. "hey matt the twins are doing great is your plan coming together. i have told her about my plan to propose. i say "hey' in a shaky voice. she says "matt is everything okay". i say "kel... kelly was shot". she says "is he". "he is in emergany surgrey we're at med". she says "i am on my way". and hangs up before i can say anything. i lean against the wall and sob slidding to the floor. buck comes and sits next to me. "its severide he is strong he will make it". "and if he dosen't the twins they lost their mom they can't lose ther father to". he says "kelly is strong he'll make it wiping my tears away i say " i was going to propose tonight what if i never get the chance". be says "you will. you two will grow old together and raise the twins". i say "yeah" he rubs my shoulder and says "come on". we get up and head back to thw waiting room.
hours go by. chief says "you need to get out of those bloody clothes". i say "i need to stay here with the twins and kelly". he says " you sitting here waiting is not going to do any good". i say " i am not leaving". he says "one of us will go get you some clean clothes". i say "buck he knows where everything is". he says "okay".
bucks pov:
chief tells me to take his battalion and get matt clothes". i say "okay". the drive is foggy i have to stay strong for matt. i think to myself the twins can't loose him nobody can. i hurry and get matt clothes and get back to med. i am back 30 minutes later.
matt pov:
buck comes back and hands me the clothes. i look at boden "can you watch the twins". he says "yes of course go change". i say "okay". i find the restroom. i get changed. i try to rince the blood of me as much as i can. i go back to the waiting room. the time goes by slow. i doze off. i get woken up from a dream to chief saying my name. i look up and see dr.rhodes covered in blood. i say "kelly". befoe i can finish he says "is fine he lost a lot of blood but he is in the icu recovering". i ask "can i see him?". he says "yeah but he still waking up". i say "okay". i look at chief he says "go i got the twins". i give him a nod and dr.rhodes takes me to his room.
kellys pov:
i slowly wake up in pain. i look around confused. and realize i am at med. i here someone come in. its dr.rhodes and matt. matt rushes over to me. he give me a kiss. and says "thank god you are okay". dr.rhodes says "the bullet didn't hit any major vasels or anything the bullet was tricky to remove you lost a lot of blood but you should be back to normal in a few months we are going to keep you here for a few days to make sure there isn't any complacations". i nod and say "thanks doc". he leaves the room.
i look at matt. he says "how are you feeling". i say "my shoulder hurts like hell but i am alriaght ". he says "i thought i lost you". i say "i am okay". he says "i know". i say "the twins?". he says "with boden in the waiting room". i say "okay". he says "i love you". i say "i love you too". he says "i was gonna do this tonight but obviously that is not happening he chuckles and continues " i love you so much you and the twins are the best thing to ever happen to me"i say "me too". he says "kelly this past year has been the best year of my life and i want to spend the rest of my life with you will you marry me?". blown away i say "matt if it wasn't for you i wouldn't be any sane right now i love you of course i will marry you". with tears in my eyes. he says "good". and we kiss.
matt pov:
nervous and my heart racing i ask kelly to marry me. he says "yes". i say "good". and give him a kiss. i say "i was supossed to pick up your ring the morning but you decided to almost die on me". and chuckle. he says "as long as i have you and thw twins i am okay". i say "i am still giving you a ring". he chuckles and says "okay". the ring i picked out for him is silver with a black wrapped around the center of it. everyone comes in.
kelly pov:
everyone comes into the room. buck carrying the twins. we comes over to the other side of my bed. i say "hey bubba hey my sweet girl". i take olivia. chief ask "how are you feeling". i say "okay thanks chief". everyone tells me that they are happy i made it. matt and i give each other a look. i say "matt and i have news". everyone looks at us, i say "we are getting married". everyone says congrats and hugs. amelia says "i knew you two were meant for each other". we talk for a bit than they leave. amelia taking the twins. matt and i talk. i talk him into leaving and taking a shower. i close my eyes. my shoulder hurting like hell and exhuasted.
matt pov:
kelly talks me into going home and showering. so i do so. i stop at the jewarly store. "matt hey so tonight is the night". the nice man says. i say "i asked him already". he says "thats great you said yes right?". i chuckle and say "yeah he thankfully said yes". he says "thats great". i smile and say "yeah sorry i am late picking up the ring". he says "its fine let me go grab it". he comes out. he says "here it is". i say "thank you it's perfact". he says "your welcome have a nice day matt". i say you too". i leave to head back to the hospital.
i go to kellys room seeing him talking to dect. halstead and linsday. kelly says "hey babe" i say "hey". halstead says "hey matt". i say "hey man". he says to kelly "well we have your statement we will call with updates". kelly says "okay". they leave. i say "so i got your ring pulling out the black ring box and opening it. he says "i love it it's perfact". i slide it onto his finger.
kellys pov:
halstead and linsday come by and take my statement. matt shows me the ring. i think about how perfact it is. he slides it onto my finger and kiss. we spend the day talking with nurses in and out.
