Bonnie's POV

Lexi sped her way up the stairs in tears. It took everything in me to follow after her, but I knew it would do nothing but hurt her more. Stefan takes a step in the direction of the stairs as soon as I'm able to finish my thought, but Damon steps in front of him to stop him.

Damon:"Don't. You're only going to make things worse."

Stefan:"Do you hear what you're saying right now? She's my daughter, Damon!"

Alaric:"Stefan, Damon has a point. We all know she needs some space."

Stefan looked at Alaric and then back at Damon. His brows furrowed and a pained, hardened look across his face as he stared him down.

Stefan:"You were there. You know what this could do to her. I was a monster, and I won't let that happen to her."

Bonnie:"You're right. I'll talk to her. Stefan, Damon and Alaric have a point. She doesn't need to be lectured or told stories about a dark part of her that she shares with you. She misses Elena. All she needs is someone to hold her. We know you want to do what's best, but let's be honest she's not your biggest fan right now."

He takes a second to think about what I've said and then turns to look over at me. He gives me a small nod and I walk up the stairs to talk to Lexi. As I reach her room, I can her soft cries from the other side of the door but knock anyway.

Lexi:"Go away, dad!"

Bonnie:"Lex, it's me. Let me in, please. Talk to me."

I hear a little bit of shuffling and the door knob turning as she slowly opens the door seconds later. Right when her eyes meet mine, I can tell she's trying to keep it together, but she breakdown almost immediately. I step into the room and closes the door behind me while holding her in my arms. She buries her head into y shoulder and lets out every ounce of her pain filled tears.

Eventually she isn't holding on as tight and we sit on the bed. A few breaths later, she's able to calm down but she still can't quite look up from staring down at her hands.

Stefan's POV

I stand at the end of the stairs still debating on whether of not I should head up and talk to Lexi, but I eventually come to my senses and realize that everyone is right. Jenna, Alaric, Damon, Caroline, Matt, Penny, Tyler, Liv, Jeremy, Sarah, and I stand there for just a minute in complete silence until Jenna's voice breaks the stream of my thoughts.

Jenna:"We'll be in the kitchen, give you guys minute."

She nods to both Caroline and I before tugging along Alaric and everyone else. I walk over to the cabinet against the wall and pour myself a glass of bourbon all the while I can hear Caroline sitting down on the couch. I walk over to the couch and sit with her while taking a big drink from my glass. Finally, I go to say something but so does she.

Caroline:"Stefan, I never-"

Stefan:"Caroline, I-"

We stop not wanting to over lap again and I clear my throat. I start to say something when we hear a knock at the door and an all to familiar voice on the other side of it.

Bonnie's POV

Bonnie:"Sweetie, I knew you were missing your mom, but why didn't you tell me how bad it was?"

Lexi:"I thought I could stop it. Dad has been able to resist it forever, and I didn't; think I could actually be..."

She starts to cry again slightly, so I reach out and hold her hand.

Lexi:"I'm sorry."

Bonnie:"Lexi, this isn't your fault. This isn't something you can control, and your emotions only make it stronger."

Lexi:"I know I should be over it, but I hate that I can Hardly remember her. It feels like every part of her I remember is slipping away faster and faster and soon I won't have anything left."

Bonnie:"Oh sweetheart, you'll always have your mom with you. Look you may not realize it, but you are so much more like her then you even know. Don't ever think that you have to move on because everyone else thinks you should. It's normal to miss your mom, nothing about losing her is easy. Hell, I know there's times where I'll be thinking out loud just waiting for your mom to finish my sentence forgetting that she isn't here to do so."

Luckily my examples able to put a smile on her face and even bring out a small giggle from her.

Bonnie:"See there you go, her laugh and all."

Lexi:"Thanks, aunt Bonnie."

Bonnie:"You're welcome. Now should we head downstairs and sort out some things?"

Lexi:"I really made a mess of things. Can we just stay here a minute longer, so I can figure out what I'm going to say?"

Bonnie:"Okay as long as we go back downstairs at some point tonight."

Lexi:"Only a minute, promise."

Stefan's POV

"Stefan? Stefan, are you here."

I get up from where I'm sitting and run to the door. I'm frozen once I pull the door open and see the one person I never thought I'd see again.

Stefan:"Elena?"
