chapter 25

Stefan's POV
I slowly wake up to the beautiful sight of my daughter and my wife by my side. Slowly, I try to get up without waking either of them up, but I fail as Lexi begins to stir and Elena's eyes flutter open.

Elena:"Hmm, good morning."

Stefan:"Good morning."

We both whispered. I chuckled in a low tone and take her left hand in my right hand and kiss the back of it.

Elena:"How long have you been awake?"

Stefan:"I woke up just a couple of seconds before you did."

She smiles and her eyes land on Lexi as mine do.

Elena:"She looks so peaceful."

Stefan:"She does."

Soon after Lexi begins to wake up as well.

Stefan:"Good morning, sunshine."

Lexi:"Hi."

She says in a small voice whilst rubbing her eyes. Elena and I both laugh a bit at her reaction.

Elena:"So, what do you want to eat for breakfast?"

Lexi:"Depends,"

Stefan:"On?"

Lexi:"Who's making breakfast."

Elena:"Oh really?"

Elena immediately begins to shower her in kisses and tickles. I laugh along with both Elena and Lexi, as the amazing sound of their laughter and giggles fill my ears. Once the tickling stops, and they both attempt to catch their breath I suggest a breakfast option.

Stefan:"How about we make breakfast together. We can even go see if aunt Bonnie and uncle Damon want to help."

Lexi:"Yesss!!"

Elena and I chuckle at her excitement and start to get out of bed with Lexi.

Lexi:"I'll go get aunt Bonnie and uncle Damon!!"

She dashes out of the room as Elena walks over to our dresser and grabs a pair of sweatpants to change into from her shorts. I notice Elena doesn't move once she has the sweatpants in her hands, and she let's out a heavy sigh. I walk up to her and place my hands on her hips causing the silky fabric of her robe to fall from her left shoulder. Gently, I lower my head and place a kiss against her perfect skin.

Stefan:"You should relax. Just breathe. Everything's going to be okay."

Elena:"I know. Your right. I just worry about her. About us. Everyone. Our family could get hurt, Stefan."

I turn Elena in my arms and wrap my arms firmly around her.

Stefan:"I know you're scared but let's try to relax; spend the day laughing with our amazing Lexi, and Damon and Bonnie."

Elena:"You're right."

She smiles slightly and our foreheads press gently against each others for a couple seconds as she breathes in deeply trying to calm down a bit. Once she's a bit more relaxed I give her a loving kiss and wait for her to change. After Elena changes I take her hand in mine and we walk downstairs to see Bonnie and Lexi making orange juice as Damon cuts up fruit.

Elena:"You've started without us."

Damon:"We were hungry."

He tells us innocently with a smile as Bonnie smacks his chest playfully. Damon let's out a small chuckle and continues cutting the fruit whilst Bonnie smiles at him and them back at us.

Elena:"Where can we help?"

Lexi:"Mommy can mix the pancake mix, but Daddy has to actually make then on the stove."

Stefan:"Smart thinking."

Elena:"Hey!"

Bonnie:"They're right Lena."

Damon:"So right."

Elena laughs and we all join in on the laughter with her. I think about how nice it is to see her smile and be happy.

-After breakfast-

We all sit in the living room and decide to do a puzzle, since Lexi had been really into them lately. All of a sudden we heard a knock at the door. For a second we all freeze beside Lexi.

Stefan:"Maybe it's Caroline or Jenna and Ric."

I tell them as I make my way to the door. I'm relieved when I see Caroline, Jenna and Alaric at the door.

Stefan:"Hey guys come in."

Alaric and I lock eyes for a second; letting him know that we needed to talk things out. As everyone greets them I whisper to Elena letting her know I was going to catch them up. Once everyone had been greeted, Alaric, Jenna, Caroline, and I had gone into the kitchen while Elena Damon and Bonnie stayed in the living room with Lexi.

Caroline:"Stefan what's going on? Bonnie texted me saying that something had happened, but she wouldn't give me further details."

Stefan:"Someone's looking for us, and it seems that they've taken a particular interest in Lexi."

Caroline:"What are we going to do?"

Stefan:"We don't know yet."

Alaric:"We couldn't find anything on Elijah."

Jenna:"We hate all of this, but we just have to wait until we can find more information."

Stefan:"God! What about Isobel? She found Katherine, and Katherine had been hidden for long time."

Alaric:"Her things should still be in her office at Duke. We could make a trip there, but I'm not sure if shell have anything."

Stefan:"As long as there's a possibility that there is something out there to help us figure this out, I don't care what I have to do. I just need to protect my family."

Jenna:"We'll help in anyway we can."

Stefan:"Thank you, all three of you."

Immediately after we hear a knock at the door, and confusion takes over me. We hadn't told Jeremy because we didn't want him to have to worry about coming back and figuring out a way not to get Sarah involved. We all walk out of the kitchen and back to the living room to find Elena opening the door. As soon as the door opens it reveals the same man in the suit, the one who saved Elena and I. I sped over to Elena's side and Damon stood in front of Lexi and Bonnie.

Elijah:"Please forgive me for the sudden drop by, but I thought I should properly introduce myself. I'm Elijah. Elijah Mikaelson."
