chapter 17

Stefan's POV
    Elena heads up for a shower and Caroline pulls me aside.

Caroline:"So I put the tickets in the small front pocket of your bag instead of Elena's, and everything is set so that when you guys get there it'll be easy to get transportation."

Stefan:"Thanks care for helping me out with this."

Caroline:"Are you kidding. Of course. I mean don't tell everyone because they'll get jealous, but you and Elena are my best friends. I'm happy you guys are finally happy. I mean your love is absolutely epic."

Stefan:"Thanks care."

We lean into a hug and then head back to everyone else. I realize we only have 30 minutes until we have to leave, so I go upstairs to check on Elena. As I reach the door frame I see my beautiful wife standing there in just a towel smiling into the mirror. I knock on the door in order not to frighten her. She snaps out of her thoughts and turns to see me at the door.

Elena:"Hey."

Stefan:"Hey."

She turns back around and looks back at her reflection as I make my way over to her. I wrap my arms around her small waist and rest my hands against hers at the base of her stomach. She leans back slightly and rests her head against my shoulder. With her gaze still on the reflection of us she begins to laugh slightly.

Stefan:"What?"

I ask her with a hint of laughter in my tone as well.

Elena:"Nothing I was just thinking about how after I had Lexi, I pushed myself pretty hard to get back into shape, and one day you held me exactly like this telling me to slow down, and that you will always love me."

He chuckles and places small kisses against my neck.

—Flashback: 4 weeks after Lexi was born—
Elena's POV

Elena:"Hold on, Hold on. I need to take a break."

Bonnie and Caroline—who are ahead of me—stop and turn to me. They take in slight deep breaths unlike me. I'm breathing extremely heavily with my hands on my hips bending over just a little to relieve some of the pain from my cramps.

Bonnie:"Lena, you don't have to keep going."

Elena:"I want to."

Caroline:"Elena, you just had a baby. You should take it easy."

Elena:"I know, but it's just...nothing nevermind."

Bonnie:"Elena."

She gave me a testing look whilst raising an eyebrow.

Elena:"Fine. My check-up is in two weeks and if everything goes well than Stefan and I can...well you know."

I had a tiny smile that was full of embarrassment.

Caroline:"Elena that's okay, but I know Stefan loves you. That's not going to change. You don't have to be near death to please him."

Elena:"I know. I know, but I just want our first time in six weeks to be mind blowing. I mean I know we have the baby and everything, but it's driving me crazy not being able to have sex with my fiance."

Bonnie:"But you can't do that if you're dead."

She eyed me playfully, and we all laughed. I groaned but continued laughing from the aching in my sides being amplified by my laughter, but I knew she was right.

Elena:"Okay, okay. Let's stop here and go on smaller runs from now on."
