With his parents around, Jin's mood had lifted tenfold. In this way, he didn't feel like he had to handle everything alone. He felt he could rely on them for a while to get some of that much-needed support. He wasn't sure how long they would stay, and since they had only just arrived, he hoped they would stay as long as possible, maybe a few weeks if they could, or even a month if they could. But he doubts they will stay that long.
"You appear so much brighter; how do you feel now?" Soonhee Jin's mother asks after he's finished getting dressed from his shower.
Jin smiled at her, still now believing she was there with him; it made him feel so much better having her there, "I feel great, thank you, mom."
Soonhee glances around the bathroom then goes to the door, opens it, and checks outside; her actions confuse Jin as he doesn't know what she is checking for. Until she closed the door and turned the lock, walking towards him and whispering, "Can we speak privately here?"
Jin looks around and ponders for a brief moment, then he gives her a nod, "I believe so."
"Okay, good, I wasn't sure as this place is hard to get into, and the number of guards who checked your father and me when we arrived was overwhelming. Tell me honestly, what's the matter between you and the King? As your father and I understand, you came here to work, but now you have a child with the King. How did that happen?
Your father thinks the King fell in love with you as soon as he saw you, and now this has happened. Although he can't understand how this happened out of wedlock, I told him the world isn't the same now as it was in his and my time.
Also, I don't know how true the rumors are, but the King, in fact, I don't think it's appropriate for me to speak here; instead, I will allow you to speak on his behalf. As your mother, I want to know more about what's happening here. When a man showed up at our home and said the King requested our presence, that something important had occurred, it shocked us. My first thought was that you were being honored for the work you have been doing here, but then I arrived, and I was greeted by Prince Jimin and his fiance, who shared the news with your father and me, which caused us to be even more shocked."
Jin tried his best to hold back his tears as he stared at his mother. It was impossible for him to convey the truth to her regardless of how much he wanted to. The truth would have consequences for him, and he was terrified. He couldn't risk losing his parents; what could happen to them was unknown to him, and his mother would surely not like the truth if he were to tell her.
Taking a moment to pull himself together, after gathering his thoughts, he smiled at her, "it is as dad predicted. Once I arrived here, the King took a liking to me."
"Really?" his mother asks, her eyes widening. "What-"
"The King wants to speak with you, Seokjin." A man's voice sounded from outside the bathroom door, interrupting the conversation between Jin and his mother.
*******
Jin entered the room where he was expected to meet the King and saw the King standing by the window with his back turned to him. There was no explanation for why he had asked to see him in the room to which he had been escorted.
"You're just getting to me now. Why is that?"
"I was-" Jin's words were cut short as the King turned around to face him and saw their daughter Moon in his arms. His eyes filled with tears as he saw his daughter outside of her incubator without any tubes connecting to her. Upon seeing this, he became speechless.
In response to Jin's reaction, Jungkook walked over to him and said, "I figured you would appreciate spending some time with us unless you wish to return to your parents and visit us tomorrow."
