Chapter 19

Baji Kohaku P.O.V.

"I still don't get why I have to go" I mumble, allowing Ran to pull me with him by my hand, while having a take out coffee in my other hand. "Because Mikey asked" Ran says. "If you behave, I have a surprise for you afterwards" Ran says. "I'm not a kid you know" I say. "Then don't act like one" Ran says, looking at me sharply. "I'm sorry" I say softly. Ran let's go of my hand and opens the door to let me in. I see that Rindou is already there, As well as a couple of others.  I cross my arms and lean with my butt against the railing of the stairs, Ran steps beside me, leans his hand behind me on the railing. Always so possessive. When I hear the door open and close again I start plucking on the cut on my lip. I barely recognize Mikey, but his face is the same. The guy next to him isn't Draken, but he's dangerous. Mikey seems shocked for a moment when he sees me, but then walks up the stairs. "Baji come with me" he says. Sanzu Haruchiyo tries to follow but then Mikey says. "Just Baji" leaving Sanzu surprised. "Go on" Ran says, so I follow Mikey while taking a sip of my take out coffee. "You wanted to see me?" I ask, closing the door behind me. "Even after all these years, you still try to avoid me... while you're wearing my gangs tattoo.." Mikey says. "I tend to avoid everyone" I say. "What happened to your face?" Mikey asks. "Nothing." I answer before taking another sip and throw the empty cup in the trash. "I know the anniversary of Baji's death was recently.." he says softly, and I cross my arms. "If that's what you came here to talk about, I'm leaving again" I say. "It's not" Mikey says quickly.  "I know Ran isn't treating you very well at times, and I don't want to meddle..." Mikey says. "Then don't" I say quickly but Mikey ignores it. "Baji would've never wanted this for you" Mikey says. "I'm doing this for Keisuke" I say. "How? He's dead?" Mikey says. "You don't need to understand. I'm keeping my promise to him, that's the important part" I say. "Ran isn't that bad, he treats me well, most of the times" I say softly.

I sigh deeply when I'm finally finished cleaning the blood in the bathroom. He's a gangster alright.. I sigh deeply as I stand up. I take off my cleaning gloves and the bottle of bleach. As I walk out of the bathroom I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. It's a good thing your dead, Kei-kun. I slowly walk down the stairs and put away the cleaning supplies underneath the kitchen sink. "Tadaima" I hear as the door opens. "You're home early. Do you want to order take out? I really don't feel like cooking today" I say as Ran walks in carrying a box in one hand and a bag in the other. "Take out is fine with me. I don't have to work tonight so where else should I be instead of at home?" Ran asks. "I didn't mean it like that" I say walking out of the kitchen. "I know" Ran says, putting the box on the bar stool. "What is that?" I ask, taking a step back as it moves. "Why don't you open it and see?" Ran asks amused. Hesitantly I open the box, revealing the fluffiest brown and white furred puppy. "A puppy?" I ask surprised. "Yeah, a puppy. I know it can be lonely since I'm working a lot, so I bought you a puppy because you mentioned once you always wanted one" Ran says. "I did" I say, still hesitantly as I lift the puppy out of the box. It's so soft! "You have to take care of it yourself. But isn't he sweet? It's an Akita" Ran says, petting the dog. "It's so cute" I say, hiding my face into its fur. "If you train him well, you can even take him to your studio" Ran says. I put the puppy back in the box so I can hug Ran. "Thank you" I say holding him closely before pressing my lips against his. "You're welcome" Ran says amused before I kiss him again. "What are you going to call him?" Ran asks as I lift the puppy out of the box again. "I don't know yet" I say, hugging the puppy. "In the bag is his food, his bowls, and some toys. Will you settle him in? I'm going to take a shower" Ran says. "Be careful, I just cleaned all the blood" I say. "Don't worry" he says.

A little surprised I allow Uncle to hug me tightly. "What's wrong?" I ask, softly patting his back. "Nothing" Uncle takes my face into his hands. "It seemed like you needed it" he says and smiles, but I still see a slight frown between his eyebrows. "Gosh it's almost like looking in the mirror" he says. "Getting nostalgic now, Oyaji?" I ask amused. Uncle laughs. "I'm not that old" he says letting go of me. "We love you alright? Call a little more often to let us know you're okay" Uncle says. "Yeah, alright" I say softly while rubbing my upper arm. "Time to go Yua" Uncle says. "Already?" I hear her ask. "Yeah, you have homework. Let go of the puppy and say goodbye" Uncle says. Soon she appears, still wearing her high school uniform. "Bye Niisan. See you soon" She says, hugging me. I pat her back softly too. "Yeah. Good luck on your test" I say, as she walks past Uncle. "Give my love to Auntie" I say. "I will, come home for dinner soon okay?" Uncle asks. I nod and wave as I watch them leave. I sigh deeply and look at my puppy who looks at me wagging his tail. I turn around and walk back from the front door. Ran is on the couch and just turns on the news. "Everything alright?" I ask carefully. "Everything is fine" Ran says without looking at me. I sit down next to him and soon feel his arms around my shoulders. I smile when I feel his lips against my cheek. I turn to him and place my hand on his cheek when I feel his lips against mine. I close my eyes when I feel his tong gliding past my lower lip and soon our tongues dance passionately. "Hmm" Ran mumbles softly as our lips part. "I missed you" he whispers. I smile slightly and softly stroke his cheek. "Then don't stay away that long next time" I whisper before kissing him. "Hm I'll try. I always try to come home fast" he says. "I know" I say and he kisses me again. Ran snuggles his face into my neck and I can't help but smile slightly when I feel his lips against my neck. "Wanna go upstairs?" He whispers. "Can I join you in the shower?" I ask. "You absolutely can" Ran says, looking at me. I smile. "Why don't you go up, and I'll walk Keiji real quick and come join you soon" I say.
