Baji Kohaku P.O.V.

I open my eyes and see my room at my Uncle and Aunts house. I groan softly as I feel so terrible, so sick. I want to sit up but just can't. I touch my head and feel a wet cloth on it. I turn my head as the door opens and my Aunt walks in. "You're awake" she says smiling. "You have a pretty high fever Kohaku-kun" she says as she takes the cloth from my forehead and touch it with her fingertips. "I'll come and take you're temperature later, it's a bummer this happens to you in your winter break huh? You can't really enjoy your free time from school" she says. School? Was it all just a dream. "I'm going to grab you some orange juice to drink. Do you want some rice porridge to eat?" She asks. I shake my head. "You have to eat sweetheart. You have to regain your strength" she says. I shake my head again but this time my eyes fill with tears and I don't really know why. "Oh sweetheart" she says. "You've been through so much lately huh? Just rest. We'll take care of you. I'm going to make you something" she says. Auntie takes the cloth and walks out of the room. As soon as she walks out of the room Uncle walks in. "Hey there buddy, I heard you're awake" he says. He touches my forehead. "It's quite a fever you got there. It's not that strange. We both know you never really processed what happened. And then the news you got yesterday" he says. "I already knew" I say, and I'm a little surprised how hoarsely I sound. "You did?" Uncle asks as he raises his eyebrows. "I heard you and Auntie talk the other day" I say. Uncle smiles. "It's okay to not be okay Kohaku. You don't have to pretend to be strong all the time" Uncle says. "I'm not okay" I whisper. "I know buddy. But that's alright. You will be" Uncle says, stroking the tears from my cheek. He then touches the back of my neck. "You've been sweating quite a lot. That's good. Do you want me to help you wash and bathe later?" He asks. I nod again. "Alright. Eat and drink as Auntie says and I'll come and get you later alright?" Uncle asks. He smiles slightly as I nod again then leaves the room.

I close my eyes when Uncle washes my hair. "I didn't know you had a tattoo" he says softly. I open my eyes and glance at my forearms. So it was just a strange dream.... "I had it done after Keisuke died" I say. My throat hurts and you can clearly hear that when I talk. "Did he have any?" Uncle asks. "No.. I didn't back then as well. But this makes me feel like he's closer" I say. "I see" Uncle says. "Do you mind?" I ask. "Not at all. I was just surprised. I didn't expect it" he says, as he starts rinsing my hair. "Alright let's get you into the bath" Uncle says and helps me up with his arms underneath my armpits and helps me into the bath. I sigh deeply as I sink into the water. I lean my head onto the side of the bath and watch him clean up the shower where he washed me. "Didn't Auntie mind?" I ask softly. "She knew from the start. But to answer your question. She didn't" he says. He then dries the stool and sits down beside the bath. "You don't have to stay" I say. "You're sick, of course I do, what If something happens?" He asks. "Just soak in the water. Sweat out this bacteria and you'll sleep like a baby when you're back in bed." Uncle says. For a moment I don't say anything, and neither does he. "Did you ever have a premonition?" I ask. "Hmm I can't say I have" Uncle says. "I had such a strange dream" I mumble. "It's probably because of the fever bud. It's running pretty high. I'm glad it lowered a bit, I was about to take you to the hospital" uncle says. "That's not necessary" I say, and smile slightly. "I'm glad it isn't" Uncle says amused. "Thank you for taking care of me" I whisper. "Don't be silly" Uncle says amused. "Of course I'm going to take care of you buddy" Uncle says smiling. "It's my job" he adds. He then touched my forehead and my neck. "You're falling asleep. Let's get you back to bed huh." He says. He helps me out of the bath and wraps a towel around me. I'm not even realizing I'm leaning against him until he softly rubs my back. "It's alright son...I got you" Uncle whispers.

The next morning I feel a lot better, but Auntie and Uncle still won't let me leave the bed. Instead they brought me some manga and books for if I get bored. They want me to be fully healed before I get to go out again. "Can I ask you something?" I ask with the thermometer still in my mouth. "Of course" Uncle says as he takes the thermometer and looks at it. "Sorry buddy, still a fever." He adds. "Why did you accept that my mother made you an uncle, when you were our father? Because of that I have a very hard time seeing you as anything else.." I say. "I don't expect you to. You just deserved to know" Uncle says smiling. "But I accepted it because at least I could be involved that way. Your mother tried to protect me that way really. We weren't together at the time, and I was still in college" Uncle says. "But this isn't a conversation we should have now. Get better first" Uncle says standing up. "We'll bring you some tea later. Try to sleep" he says as he leaves the room. I sigh deeply staring at the ceiling. After a minute I grab my cellphone. "This is a surprise..you never call" I hear Mitsuya says. "I'm bored out of my mind" I say. "Everything alright? You sound a little strange" Mitsuya says. "I'm sick and my uncle won't let me leave" I say. "You should sleep when you're sick. I'm siding with you're uncle here" Mitsuya says. "You're no fun" I say dryly and Mitsuya laughs. "I'm surprised you called me though" he says softly. I don't respond for a little while. "I was just thinking about you.." I say softly. "You did?" Mitsuya asks softly. "Mmhmm" I say. "Well. I'm glad I'm still on your mind" Mitsuya says. I smile slightly. "Of course you are" I say. We both don't say anything for a little while, and I feel my eyelids lowering. "Hey.." Mitsuya says. "You're sick, shouldn't you try to get some sleep?" He asks. "I slept so much yesterday" I mumble sleepily. "Yeah and you should get some more" Mitsuya says amused. "Alright. I miss you" I mumble, still sleepily. Mitsuya chuckles "Okay. Sleep wel, Kohaku" he says softly and then hangs up. My phone drops out of my hand onto the mattress as I fall asleep.
