Baji Kohaku P.O.V.

I look up at the burning building in front of me. Gone...everything is gone... I sigh and scratch my neck. Not that my life was so great. I was living in a small room, mountains of debt and barely scraping by as an artist. I just hate to have to knock on uncles door again. He always a offered to help. I just don't like him to. I walk away toward the train station. "All my fucking supplies" I sigh. I pat my pockets for some change and when I can't find I start to walk. It's a long walk and it's nearly evening when I reach my uncles big house. I hesitate and ring the bell. After a little while uncle opens the door. He seems surprised to see me. "Kohaku, what a lovely surprise" he says, happily. "Hi Oyaji" I say softly. He looks at me up and down. "You alright?" He asks. "My apartment building burned down." I mumble. "No surprise there. That place was a dump. Want to move back here?" He asks. "If you'll have me. Just until I get back on my feet" I say. "You can stay as long as you'd like. Come on in" Uncle says, stepping aside. "Who was it?" Auntie asks as he walks down the stairs. "Kohaku" Uncle answers. "Finally, it's been months! Are you okay?" She asks when she sees me. "Do you remember that building fire on the news?" Uncle asks. She nods. "That was my building" I mumble. "Oh no. How sad. Let me draw you a bath" Auntie says. She then places her hand on my cheek. "Then lets get some food in you. You are terribly thin" she says, then hurried up the stairs. Uncle smiles at me. "That you are." Uncle leads me up the stairs. "Your room is still in the same place. I can probably find some pajamas for you. Tomorrow you can go out and buy some stuff back" Uncle says. Yua pops her head out of her room. "Onii-chan, is that you?!" She asks. "It is" I say awkwardly. "He'll be moving back for a while" Uncle says. "Sweet. See you at dinner" she says, then closes the door again. "Such a teenager" Uncle sighs, then opens the door to my old bedroom. "Okaerinasai" uncle says smiling. So many memories. "Tadaima" I mumble softly.

I take a deep breath looking at the luxurious apartment building in front of me. When I went shopping yesterday, I bumped into Ran and Mitsuya, who are apparently roommates with benefits now. They tried to get my number but since I don't own a cellphone, they invited me to dinner instead. My stomach is in knots and my heart is racing. "It's up in the penthouse. Press the button in right elevator on the back and we'll get you up" Mitsuya says through the intercom. The door opens, and I walk to the elevator he says. I press the button. "Hi! We'll see you soon" Mitsuya says, and the elevator starts. As soon as the elevator stops, and the doors open. I see the most amazing, big luxurious apartment I've ever seen. It's very open, and spacious. It even has a stairs, to a balcony which has doors to other rooms apparently. "This is amazing" I say, looking around as I meet Ran and Mitsuya. "Thank you. We're very proud of it" Mitsuya answers smiling. Ran gestures us to sit at the set dinner table. "So how did this came to be" I ask curiously. Mitsuya and Ran look at each other for a moment. "In my line of work, it's best not to have a property like this on my name. It's as simple as that" Ran says. "How about you? It's been so long" Mitsuya says as he pours us a glass of wine. I scratch my jaw. "Yeah...well..." I say awkwardly. "It doesn't really matter" I add. "Of course It does" Mitsuya says, sitting down next to Ran. "Spill" Ran says. "It's just not been great. I moved back in with my dad because the building burned down with all my art and supplies with it. Not that it's been selling anyway." I say, then sigh deeply. "I was just about to apply for a job when I walked into you guys" I mumble. "That kind of job?" Ran asks. I shrug. "I have to make money fast. I have to be able to still make my art" I say. "No. I won't ever allow you to do that" Ran says. "Are you in debt, Kohaku?" Mitsuya asks. "It's not like you were able to stop me, if I hadn't run into you" I say, ignoring Mitsuya's question. Ran smiles. "You underestimate my connections" Ran says amused.

Not even a day later, Ran shows up at the house, telling uncle big stories how he's got a place for me to live and work so I can create and sell in peace. Uncle was hesitant at first but Ran had him soon convinced, as long as I come to dinner once a week. I tried decline but before I knew it, what little stuff I had, because I just bought it, was packed and in Ran's car. Because of his stories, I expected an apartment but instead he takes me to the same apartment he and Mitsuya lives. They have a bedroom prepared for me, and a separate room to create my art, which they have stocked with supplies. The expensive kind. "I don't know if I can accept this guys" I say, walking down the stairs. "Of course you can" Ran says. "I believe you can get very big with your art. You just need a little nudge to get there. We both made enough of a name for ourselves so we can help you. Let us" Mitsuya says. I hesitate again. "Okay. But what do you expect in return?" I ask. "Nothing" Mitsuya says. Ran smirks. I chuckle. "I guess you haven't changed" I say amused. "That part certainly hasn't" Mitsuya laughs. I hesitate again. "Well.." I say awkwardly. "I'm going to get settled" I say, even though I own very little. I walk up the stairs toward my room but don't close the door. "Is this a good idea?" Mitsuya asks. "You felt it too, didn't you? When we saw him again?" Ran asks. "Yeah. I did, and it was very overwhelming. But who says that he even feels the same, Ran?" Mitsuya asks. "There's no guarantee but there's only one way to find out, isn't there?" Ran asks. I close the door silently, then sit down on the bed. What am I supposed to do? I really am such an idiot, aren't I? I run my hair through my still long hair. I look up when I hear a soft knock, and Mitsuya opens the door. "Hey..." he says softly. "Are you okay?" He asks, leaning against the doorway. "Hmm?"  I ask, a little surprised. "I know it's been a while, but I can still tell that something is wrong" Mitsuya says, smiling slightly. "I'm just a little confused. That's all" I say. A blatant lie.
