"Paris and I were talking, and we think that the basic structure of the Elizabethan government is relatively sound. The division of power between the monarchy, the privy council, and the parliament all seem to work. Agreed?" Genevieve sat at the head of the table and passed out papers as she spoke.
Paris nodded, "Ok, so in establishing our own government, I think duplicating a similar structure would be good, with a few alterations. Queen Elizabeth chose to remain unwed. She took on the burden of leadership all by herself at a time when possibly marrying the Prince of France or the King of Spain would solidify her throne while expanding her empire. And though it obviously worked for her, and the concept of a woman ruling without a man is certainly politically correct these days, I think we need to take a different tact."
"They know this is make belief...right?" Madeline whispered. Louise shrugged, in fear of getting yelled at by Genevieve.
"So in addition to the different political branches, we'll also need a King and Queen. Rory, Tristan, what about you?" Genevieve said.
"Us?" Tristan shook his head, "No,"
"Yes, no," Rory nodded.
"Why?" Paris said.
"Why can't Genevieve be queen?" Rory asked.
"Well I'm head of Parliament," Genevieve said, "What do I want to be queen for?"
"Be both," Rory said.
"She can't be both," Paris said.
"Why not? It's our government,"
"Take the word our lightly Rory," Genevieve said, "You honestly get no say in it when my grade is involved,"
"We can do it through a vote," She ignored her, "Let's vote,"
"Rory," Genevieve raised her voice.
"I'll be queen," Madeline interjected.
"Perfect," Genevieve muttered, "Tristan's king- please shut up it's not negotiable,"
"I'll be the lady-in-waiting. The one with the low-cut blue velvet renaissance dress," Louise said.
"Not a political office," Paris said.
"No, but they get all the sex," She said.
"What?"
"Watch a movie,"
"We're talking about government class, not the movies!" Genevieve said, "We secured the classroom for tomorrow and Sunday, so we should be ready by Monday,"
"We're working all weekend?" Madeline asked.
"Take this. It's an outline for this entire system- point of methods, some basic laws, and penalties plus some random ideas. Please be ready to discuss it tomorrow at nine. Don't be late," Paris said.
"If you don't have a ride I'll send my driver, there's no excuses," Genevieve said as they walked into the hall.
"Question," Paris said, to Rory, "What's up with you and Tristan?"
"What do you mean?" Rory said.
"You just seem weird around each other," Paris said.
Genevieve nodded, "Now that you mention it, Paris. I see it too,"
"What?" Rory said, "Nope, no weirder than usual,"
Genevieve fell back and allowed Rory and Paris to continue walking, she turned right back around to catch Tristan just as he turned the corner, "What's going on with you and Gilmore?"
