Kawaki stared dumfounded at the direction where Boruto exited. This didn't went unnoticed by Shikadai as he narrow his eyes at him.

He doesn't know what's going on but there's a growing hunch at the back of his mind and he has no plans getting himself involved if he ends up being right.

Although being Boruto's best friend is enough to get himself involve.

Really... What a drag.

A full minute has passed since Boruto left with Sarada in his arms but everyone was still stunned by what just transpired.

"Did you see the way Boruto carried her?"

"I know this isn't the right time to say this, but that's so sweet!"

"Shh!"

A beat later, Kawaki took a step forward with every intention of following Boruto and making sure Sarada was fine but was stopped by Shikadai's hand on his shoulder. Holding him in place.

"Ha?! What do you think you're doing?" Kawaki asked in annoyance, brows furrowing at the determined look on Shikadai's face.

"If you're thinking of following them, I advise you... don't."

"What makes you think I'll do just that? You may be my friend but that doesn't mean you can dictate me."

Closing his eyes in exasperation, Shikadai let out an audible sigh while pinching the bridge of his nose.

These brothers surely are alike even though they aren't really related by blood. They're both stubborn.

"Okay... I won't stop you anymore but let me just tell you this." Shikadai opened his emerald eyes as he gave Kawaki a pointed look. "You're grades aren't as good as Boruto. In fact, yours are miles from being considered as... passable."

Kawaki glared at Shikadai, a deep frown forming on the side of his lips.

It's not like Shikadai was lying. It was indeed the truth. Maybe it's just that, hearing it from another person felt like a blow to his ego.

Between him and Boruto, the latter is obviously the achiever and the one who's more accomplished when it comes to school related stuff.

Boruto is the brain while he's all brawl.

And since he's lacking in terms of intelligence, he makes up by participating in extracurriculars and sports.

"I'm saying... you can't afford to miss this class now. Not when you didn't do well at our written exams. You do know that Konohamaru-sensei will conduct a test, right?"

Kawaki cannot help but agree with his statement. Today's P.E. class is important considering Konohamaru will grade their basketball skills.

If he wants his grades to get better then he has no choice but to ace everything that doesn't involve written exams.

"Fine," Kawaki grumbled in defeat.

Also, he doesn't want to disappoint anyone anymore especially his adoptive parents. Without another excuse in mind, Kawaki remained in his spot thoroughly convinced that staying is the better option. Even though it's not what he really wants.

Seeing that Kawaki seemed to have understood what he's trying to point out, Shikadai slowly let go of his shoulder not before giving him a light tap.

"C'mon, let's just continue playing." He offered and Kawaki nodded.

The pain must have been too unbearable that Sarada passed out before they could even reach the clinic. Boruto felt panic surging in his system as he felt her previously trembling body turn limp. The only thing keeping him calm was the feel of her chest slowly rising and falling, an indication that she was thankfully still breathing.
