The classroom was silent as their teacher stood in front of the board, writing some terms and definitions for them to review since they'll be having a short quiz tomorrow.
Sarada propped her elbow on the desk as she leaned her chin against her palm. Her eyes followed the movement of her teacher's hand, copying the words being written on the board but every once in a while she would steal glances at Boruto who sat a few seats apart from her.
She sighed.
Her plan to ask Boruto to be her research partner all went down the drain since Sumire beat her to it. If she only asked sooner and didn't hesitate... then maybe instead of Sumire, she'll be his partner.
But then again, Sarada remembered the very reason why she was thinking twice about asking him.
She got scared at the thought of him rejecting her infront of his friends.
A part of her mind kept telling her not to do it because up until now, she's still confused as to how the Uzumaki heir sees her.
Does he see her as a friend now? Or just a classmate?
Or does he still see her as someone he hates?
She haven't got a clue.
Boruto is such a hard book to read. Last week, he was casually talking to her and would even throw jokes as if they were long lost friends.
But after that it felt as though nothing has changed between them.
If possible, it seems like they were back to square one.
They became partners for art class sure, but they haven't talk after that.
Sarada have been joining their table whenever they would eat at the cafeteria but even though Boruto was there, he was just silent most of time.
He would talk when needed or asked but he was never someone who would start a conversation.
It was really becoming a hard task to approach him that's why when Shino gave them the research paper, she thought that maybe this was the chance she's waiting for!
However... it seems like she got her hopes up.
"Sarada, let's go? It's lunch time..."
Chocho's bright voice interrupted her train of thoughts. The brown haired girl gazed at her, a small smile plastered on her face.
"Chocho, do you already have a partner for the research paper?"
The blackette asked while gathering her things and looping the strap of her bag over her shoulder.
"Yeah, I do. Mitsuki asked me earlier, why?" Chocho replied, "You still haven't got a partner?"
Sarada pursed her lips as she stood up. The loud classroom gradually started to become quiet as her other classmates began to leave one by one.
"Unfortunately..." she mumbled as she followed Chocho outside where she saw Sumire, Namida, and Wasabi huddled together waiting for them.
The three girls were talking about something, their soft laughter echoing at the almost empty halls.
Sumire was the first one to notice their presence. She smiled softly before speaking.
"Shall we go?"
"Hmm, I'm famished! Also! It's Friday so that means..." Wasabi exclaimed excitedly, her voice trailing off as if waiting for them to guess what's good about Friday.
Sarada knitted her brows in confusion since she has little to no clue about what the pixie haired girl was talking about. On the contrary, Chocho's eyes sparkled in realization.
