It didn't took long for Boruto to find his grandfather.
Hiashi Hyuuga sat at the brightly lit gazebo at the center of the garden. A cup of steaming tea was being poured by his personal butler.
Boruto tried to compose himself before he slowly approached their direction.
Stay wise and keep your head high, that'll do the trick.
He reminded himself.
Hiashi seemed to have felt his presence. He lifted his gaze from his cup of tea and waited for Boruto to occupy the seat across him before speaking.
"You're here so soon..." The older man commented, there was a slight raise to his brow before he instructed his butler to pour Boruto his own glass of tea.
"I wanted to hear first what you plan on telling me."
Boruto waved his hand no even before the butler was able to walk to tend to him. He's by no means a fan of tea although being close to his grandfather required accepting every invitation for tea he offers.
Tea for Hiashi only means important business and for years, Boruto always kept a facade of liking the taste of tea whenever he's by his grandfather's presence.
Though this time, he isn't in the mood to be faking his enjoyment for the drink. There's only a thin line that's keeping his thoughts from drifting away again and a steaming mug of coffee might help him calm and clear his mind.
"A cup of black coffee would be better," Boruto said and the butler left to go fetch him some.
Now that they're all alone, Hiashi decided it would be the best time to tell him the main reason why he was summoned by him.
The older man cleared his throat as he lowered his cup over the matching saucer.
"I think this is the first time you turned down my favorite tea... I can still remember the first time you drank one." Hiashi chuckled quietly, eyes reminiscent while remembering an exact scene like this one although he was facing a much younger Boruto in his memories.
"You were so curious about the taste. But you were so young, barely even five... I was so sure it wouldn't be to your liking so I reprimanded you into drinking." Hiashi lifted his eyes, small smile now plastered on his lips causing his crow's feet to appear on the corner of his eyes.
"Heh, but I still got what I wanted. Although you were right about me not liking the taste. It was bitter alright, I only forced myself to swallow since I wanted to appear cool." Boruto snorted, he was such a bratty kid who is mostly spoiled. Well, he's bound to be like that especially when he's the first grandkid of both Uzumaki and Hyuuga clans.
"Don't forget that you threaten to hate me forever if I wouldn't let you drink tea. That's the only reason why I relented."
"You're such a doting grandfather, ojiisan." The blond commented almost teasingly.
Incoming footsteps were heard and before long, a freshly brewed black coffee was offered in front of Boruto.
Hiashi waved his hand, a sign directed for the butler to leave them and they were finally all alone again.
"How is Dad's condition? Any good news, progress?" Boruto started.
Gazing down, Hiashi traced the handle of the cup as he answered. "His condition is still the same, no improvement nor did it worsen. I'm afraid all we could do is to wait and hope for the best."
Boruto didn't know how to feel after that. It wasn't what he wanted to hear but he would just have to accept the bitter truth.
It seems like Naruto isn't gonna wake anytime soon unless some miracle happens.
