Everything feels heavy.
That's what Boruto felt when his mind seemed to have gained consciousness after who knows how long.
His eyes were still closed as he used his other senses to get a good grasp of his environment.
It was deathly quiet. That's the first thing he took note of. He can't hear anything aside from the distant - almost non-existent - sound of howling dogs, vehicles and... water?
Slowly, Boruto tried to open his eyes only to be greeted by darkness. His initial thought was that it was probably already nighttime but when he tried roaming his blurry eyes, he noticed there were no windows.
Only rusting metal bars on his right along with it's door which he assumed was locked. It reminded him of a prison cell.
A minute after, everything seemed to hit him like a freight train. The feeling of the cold concrete floor against his back, the stiffness and heavy feeling of his body, and the sweat that drenched his now wet forehead and neck.
It was insanely hot. Probably due to the poor ventilation.
Could it be they're underground?
"K-kawaki..." He croaked, wincing at how scratchy and hoarse his voice sounded in his ears.
His throat was so dry. He felt as though his mouth was full of sand everytime he swallows.
"Kawaki?" He called for the second time. His voice, much louder and now sounding alert.
"Here..."
Boruto whipped his head at the sound of Kawaki's choked voice.
Boruto had to squint his eyes to take a better look at Kawaki's silhouette on the far corner of the other cell beside the one where he's in.
It was dark alright, the only source of light they have was the measly fire being produced by the old lamp outside of their prison.
"You okay?" Boruto asked, slowly sitting up from where he laid. A groan escaped his lips at the uncomfortable feeling of shoulders all the way to his hips.
Now he knows why his Mother kept nagging him to get up from the floor whenever she saw him about to drift away to sleep laying on their cold hard tiled floor.
"Fine," the older boy replied. "Which is very surprising... knowing how Code greatly despise me."
Boruto groaned at the mention of Code. Great! What just happened? The last thing he remembered was them going back to the car after Kawaki's visit to the doctor, until two men - Code and that big guy- suddenly went up to them and it seems like they knew who Kawaki is?
Careful blue eyes glanced at Kawaki who was leaning against the cold concrete wall. Boruto opened his mouth, about to ask who Code was and what his relationship to Kawaki is until the heavy metal door to the underground cell opened with a loud creaking noise alerting the boys.
"Ahh, you're awake!" Code's annoying voice echoed.
How long has it been since they've kept them here?
Boruto isn't so sure but judging from the fact that he feels almost fine, it would be safe to say that it hasn't been a day since they've been kidnapped by these people.
"Let us out of here!" Boruto commanded angrily although Code only gave an amused laugh.
"Ahh, that... I can't." The red haired replied with a menacing smirk. It was still dark but the light from the lamp illuminated half of his face, just enough to show the crazy glint in his eyes.
