Chapter 17
I'm so confused. Why did he just walk away? He has a reason for running away from people, I know he does, but I doubt he's going to tell me anytime soon. I want to bring it up to him the next time I see him, but what if he reacts the same way he just did now? I have a feeling he will, though I'm going to bring it up sometime in the near future. I'm going to need to know, or well, I want to know. It's definitely something that's going to bug me for a while until I find out what the hell his problem is.
People start coming back to the entrance and Mr. Davis shows up out of nowhere at some point. I still don't see Frankie anywhere. I wonder where he went. He just disappeared and he still hasn't shown up. I check my phone again, as if Frankie could be hiding in it. No such luck.
There's a bunch of picnic tables set up around the place and students claim them quickly, filling up the seats with their friends. The only two people I hang out with are nowhere to be seen, and plus I don't really eat much so I didn't bring anything to eat. I sigh, going over to one of the trees near the picnic table. I sit down, leaning against it and opening my phone up. I barely have anything on here, so I just casually scroll through Tumblr for a little bit.
"Where's Mr. Iero?" Mr. Davis asks me from my left, using the formality. You'd think he's chill enough to use our first names, but I think it's just Frankie he does that for. Just to bug Frankie.
I shrug, not looking away from my phone, "I don't know, he disappeared."
Mr. Davis sighs, "Of course he did."
"Are you going to look for him?" I ask Mr. Davis when he doesn't make a move to go in search for Frankie like most teachers would. If a student goes missing, they're on the case almost immediately. But Mr. Davis continues sitting here.
"He'll show up eventually." Davis replies. That's a valid answer, even though it's a bit odd for a teacher to be saying that. I just shrug and continue looking through Tumblr. I start to get bored of it though, so I close the app and put my phone down.
"You know, if you're not going to be eating or anything, you can go." Mr. Davis offers. I give him a questioning look. "Yes, you can go. Unlike all these others delinquents, you're trustworthy."
"I am?" I didn't think teachers found me trustworthy at all. I skip classes all the time.
"Just go Kellin, before I change my mind. There's no point for you to stay here anyways. Just be back by 3:00, got it?" Mr. Davis says and I get up. He's right, there really is no point for me to be staying here while everyone else eats.
"Don't worry about it." I tell Mr. Davis. I then turn around and walk back the way I came, the way I saw Vic escape down. Maybe he's still here and I can find him. Or better yet, I can find the still missing Frankie.
But instead, I find myself walking alone. It's extra quiet and the mud is drying, making my clothes stiff and awkward. I'll definitely have to wash these, no doubt about it. I wonder where Vic ran off to, and where Frankie is. Honestly, the two of them are so weird. I thought I'm weird. But they take the cake.
I could really use some cake right now.
While walking, I make sure not to trip on anything so that I don't fall into any water filled troughs or mud. Or worse... So I keep a steady eye on my surroundings, inspecting almost every tree and every rock. This is relaxing. I didn't think I would be this relaxed, but I am. It's nice to get out.
