PROJECTS FOR A HAPPY ENDING

Ms. Shen accepted Wang He Di's invitation with the best of intentions.  She had promised herself that she would behave better than she had done up to that point and that she would try to accept the relationship between him and her daughter... She missed Yue too much.
But when she found herself in Shen Yue's apartment, at the dinner table with her own family and Wang He Di's, she realized that good intentions and those promises to herself were not absolutely necessary... Because that boy was so good which left her not even a shred of a chance to judge him as she had done in the past, without knowing him.
She had been watching him closely throughout the evening and what she had seen of him had warmed her heart...
Dylan had helped Shen Yue cook, then he hardly touched any food as he was too busy making sure she and their guests were satisfied with the dinner.
He treated Yue like a princess, although he enjoyed making fun of her and making her angry.
He stroked her and gave her little kisses on the head continuously.
And then... "Our baby tiger" was always in his mouth.
"When our baby tiger will be older...", "Our baby tiger uses to do this...", "Our baby tiger likes it when..."
"Our baby tiger" here, "Our baby tiger" there...
It was incredibly sweet to see with how much joy and love he was waiting for their baby to arrive.
Ms. Shen's good humor rose even higher when she found that the boy's parents were two good people, cheerful and affectionate even with Yue.
While she was immersed in her thoughts, she didn't realize that Wang He Di himself had taken a seat next to her after they finished eating their dessert.
"Are you okay?" he asked hesitantly.
Ms. Shen hadn't talked much during the evening, she had preferred to observe and let herself to be amazed.
"Sure, I'm fine! Wang He Di, can we talk for a moment?"
He nodded and she almost laughed at the fear in his eyes.
They got up and went to Yue's room.
"Come here" Ms. Shen sat on the edge of the bed and tapped the empty seat next to her.
Dylan obeyed instantly.
"So... Why did you decide to invite me here tonight?" she asked, looking him in the eyes.
Dylan's face was red, but his gaze became determined.
"Because I don't want Yue to suffer through my fault. I'm the cause of your quarrels... And I'm really sorry.
I beg your pardon.
I know you're not happy with that, but Yue and I are a family... And I really wish you and Mr. Shen were a part of it. I hope to be able one day to convince you that even if I am an idiot, I love your daughter deeply. "
The woman nodded with a smile.  Hearing him talk about family hit her right in the heart. Wang He Di was serious.
"I'm the one who owes you an apology. I don't know what went through my mind, usually I'm not like that. Maybe, when it comes to protecting your children, you risk overstepping the line... And I did it.
I'm sorry for everything I've said about you and, above all, for that night at our house. Inviting Jasper to change Yue's mind was really mean.
Tonight I saw a happy, in love and loved girl. I had never seen so much light in my daughter's eyes. The way she looks at you... And the way she lets you take care of her... It's amazing. You're a good man, Wang He Di. I'm glad you and Yue met. I am happy with this new life that is about to be born".
Dylan was so surprised to hear that speech, that he was speechless for a while, not quite sure he understood it correctly.
Until a moment ago, he was willing to kneel before that woman and beg her to give him a chance...
"Really?" he managed to ask, in a faint voice.
Ms. Shen laughed and took his hand.
"Really. Take care of her, okay? Yueyue is strong, but she hides a lot of fears. Don't make her suffer."
"I promise you, Ms. Shen. I will do my best to make Yue and our baby happy."
Wang He Di felt he could finally breathe again.
Suddenly, someone knocks on the bedroom door.
Shen Yue walked in with a smile.
She had followed them out of fear that her mother might say something bad to Dylan.
That protective side of her amazed even herself. She found she was willing to fight against the whole world to protect her Didi.
Maybe it was something that pregnancy had brought to her... Or maybe she just loved him really intensely.
"Yueyue..." her mother got up from the bed to approach her.
Before she could speak, Shen Yue hugged her tightly.
She finally understood who Wang He Di really was.
"Sorry," Ms. Shen whispered.
"It's okay," Yue replied.
Dylan decided to leave them alone.
He walked past them and patted Yue's head with a smile, then walked out of the room.
When the two women released their embrace, Ms. Shen's eyes were bright.
"I want to come to that baby clothes shop you were talking about earlier! I also want to help you and I want to know how you are every day! It seems that Ms. Wang has become your new mommy!" she mumbled.
Yue laughed at her and pinched her cheek.
"You are my mommy".
