The garden of the Shen home had never been so crowded and colorful!
That was Wang Laohu's first birthday and his grandparents had made their house available to throw a big party with friends and family.
Ms. Shen and Ms. Wang had prepared lunch, while Yue and Dylan had thought of the decorations.
A long table imbued with many delicacies was placed in the center of the garden, surrounded by hundreds of colored balloons and festoons.
"Yueyue! Can you play with me?"
After lunch, little Sally had given her angel eyes to Shen Yue, gently tugging at her dress to get her attention.
Sally loved her new baby tiger friend, but sometimes when they were together she felt happy if he fell asleep and she could have Yue and Dylan all to herself.
Shen Yue smiled at her, fondly.
"Sure, little star! Who's coming to play with me and Sally?!" she asked aloud, turning to the rest of the table.
All of her old friends followed them enthusiastically and together they began to play hide and seek.
Meanwhile Wang He Di, who had remained at the table with his baby tiger in his arms, was watching them from a distance.
His eyes were on Shen Yue... The girl was running and laughing in the meadow, with her bare feet and the lilac dress that fluttered with every movement of her.
"She's so beautiful," he whispered, with a small smile.
Laohu giggled and put a hand on his cheek.
"You're laughing at me, huh? You too are smitten with your mother, there's no need to pretend to be cool" Dylan grinned, then kissed him loudly on his forehead.
"Dear, go with your friends! I'll take care of Laohu!" Mr. Wang exclaimed, reaching out to take the baby.
"Really? Thanks, dad!"
Dylan gave another kiss to Wang Laohu, who was already distracted by his grandfather's funny faces, then he ran silently to a bush.
Yue was hiding there.
He knelt down and hugged her from behind, frightening her.
Sally was still counting with her eyes closed against a tree.
"Where's baby tiger?" Yue asked him in a low voice.
"With my father".
She nodded and turned to him. With a finger in front of her lips she signaled to remain silent, while she looked at him with those big happy eyes of hers.
Dylan couldn't resist.  He took her hand from her lips, laced his fingers around hers and kissed her.
Yue smiled against his mouth. She loved it when he surprised her so suddenly.
The screams of Sally and their friends running away and chasing around them didn't even touch them. Until...
"I FOUND YOU!" the little girl looked at them from the meter and ten of hers, with a little finger pointed at them.
Dylan and Yue parted instantly.
Meanwhile, Sally began running towards the tree.
"Didi! Stop her!" Yue exclaimed.
The boy's eyes widened... He believed that Yue's plan was to let Sally win, but he had underestimated her competitive side.
In a flash he managed to reach the kid and take her in his arms, while Shen Yue ran to touch Sally's tree yelling: "We wooon!"
"Hey! That's not fair! You cheated!"  Sally complained.
"It's her fault, she forced me!" said Dylan, still holding her in his arms.
Sally glared at him, angry.  But her pout instantly vanished when Wang He Di kissed her on the cheek.
"Sorry, my beautiful princess."
"You are forgiven," she smiled at him.
Shen Yue walked over to them and stood on tiptoe to kiss the girl's other cheek.
"And I?" she asked her.
"No, you aren't," Sally muttered.
"If you forgive me, you'll have two slices of cake."
"Two?!"
"Two!"
"You are forgiven! I love you, Yueyue!"  Sally threw her arms around Yue's neck, who filled her with kisses.
"Tiger! Two slices?!"  Wang He Di exclaimed skeptically.
"She's not our daughter... We can spoil her ..." she grinned.
Dylan and the others burst out laughing.
"Come on, guys! Come and eat the cake!"  Ms. Shen called everyone back to the table.
Yue picked up Wang Laohu and showed him the huge rainbow-colored cake she made for him.
"Have you seen, my love? Look how many colors!"
Laohu reached for the cake to touch it, laughing.
"Wait! The candle!"  Dylan took a lighter and lit the blue candle in the center of the cake.
While friends and relatives around them sang "Happy birthday to you!"  loudly, the tiger's eyes were on the flame.
"Look, baby tiger! You have to blow... Like this..." Dylan showed him how to do it, making Laohu laugh even more.
"Mama and papa help you, okay?"  Yue smiled.
"Wait! I want to take a picture of you!" Jaqi exclaimed.
"At my three you can blow! One... Two... Three!"
Dylan and Yue leaned over their baby's sides to blow out the candle, while in the center, Wang Laohu looked at one and the other in amazement.
A big applause from the guests caught his attention and a smile broke out on his chubby face.
Shen Yue noticed that Wang He Di was looking at him with shining eyes... She realized that he was trying hard to hold back the tears and it melted her heart.
"Shall we give papa a kiss?" she whispered to Laohu.
She raised him a little to bring him closer to Didi's face and the child opened his mouth, ready.  For him, kissing his papa meant eating his cheeks.
Dylan smiled fondly.
"Happy birthday, my little tiger! This year with you has been incredible" he said to his son, emotional.
Laohu laughed, as usual.
"It's incredible! He laughs every time I talk to him! He never takes me seriously... Like his mama..." Didi grinned.
"Because he knows you well... Like his mama!" Yue winked at him.
