Chapter 29: Divine Trial, Part 5
Everything happened in an instant. The Demonic Guardian exploded in a flash, leaving most of the dimension covered in scattered, ripped flesh. The gods who were watching the rectangular glass as well as the participants stared at the scenery with their mouths hung open. No one dared to speak up or cheer for the victor. Because the winner was none other than the Crescent Moon God, who had been thought to be dead for many years.
Xin Yue's name rose from the bottom to the top of the leaderboard, alongside the Wind Goddess's eldest son, who was now in second place. The female announcer returned her gaze to the high priest on the arena's upper floor and signaled the remaining participants to return to reality. The high priests obeyed her commands, and the glowing vertical line in the center of the arena gradually widened as the remaining participants who remained inside the dimension stepped out one by one.
The faces of the participants were filled with disappointment and bewilderment at what they saw inside. When the last two people stepped outside the portal, they were loudly laughing and cheering with each other, the atmosphere fell silent once more.
"We won! We won!" Guan Xiushi continued shaking Xin Yue's shoulder, who was still dizzy from using too much divinity that he had. Xin Yue got impatient and shoved Guan Xiushi away from him with a frown. "Fucker, don't be so annoying. I'm dizzy as hell, you know that?"
"Oh, sorry..." Guan Xiushi withdrew his hand, but his victorious smile remained on his face.
Fuck...... My head is spinning, and my body feels weak and soft. I should've asked that glowing bulb for more details if I had used my divinity too much. Xin Yue squeezed his eyes shut and massaged his temple. As soon as he opened his eyes, he noticed two men on the balcony staring at him, dumbfounded. When Xin Yue noticed the other person on the other side of the balcony, he arched his brows and smiled.
"BANYUE!!!" Xin Yue's voice was loud and clear as he shouted Banyue's name amid the crowd. The gods, who were still silent and shocked, shifted their gaze in Banyue's direction in a daze.
However, Banyue was not on the balcony anymore but in the middle of the arena. Xin Yue ran in his direction with an arrogant smile on his face. "Did you see me right there?! I'm awesome, right?~ I'm fucking awesome!"
Banyue didn't answer, but his lips were slightly curved into a smile. He stared at Xin Yue for a while before speaking in a low tone, "Are you not hurt?"
Xin Yue raised his eyes. "Aren't you supposed to ask me first why I am here?—Oh, did you read my letter in the room?"
"No," Banyue answered.
Xin Yue showed a slight disappointment on his face. "Well, whatever. I'm not hurt at all. My head is just spinning because I used too much divinity."
Xin Yue was surprised when Banyue gently grabbed his hand. A glowing white land emerged from Banyue's palms, and a warm, comforting feeling flowed through Xin Yue's hands up to his chest, easing his dizziness and also his weakened body. The gods stared at the two with star-stricken expressions, looking as if the two had their world amid the crowd in the Divine Trial.
"His Highness Jing Lin is giving him divinity!"
"Do the Crescent Moon God and His Highness Jing Lin have a special relationship?"
