Chapter 49: The Revealed Truth Part 2
Xin Yue gazed at the Moon God; he had no idea what was going on at the moment, but he understood that something had to be hidden from the original Xin Yue's past. Rather than responding, he fixed her with a meaningful look, and the Moon God's lips curled into a radiant grin as she gazed into his brilliant purple eyes. "Your eyes look so much like your father's."Father.... Xin Yue just gave her a confused look as he glanced at her. His ears were suddenly filled with unfamiliar phrases that he had never heard often before. It seemed unusual to him, Mother, Father, Brother, Sister; it was so foreign. Xin Yue, who has only known his grandmother his entire life, can never get used to it, but he also doesn't want to fake a grin on their faces. Seeing as though his grandma was no longer with him in this ancient age, Xin Yue felt compelled to be independent and stop depending on others, unlike how he always does with his grandma.
Even though he was aware that he shouldn't draw comparisons between his new family and his grandmother, he couldn't help but think about his grandmother as he was observing his new family. The warmth of his grandma was unlike any other; each family and parent had a distinct warmth that Xin Yue could only have imagined in his mind, not in his heart. He was experiencing everything for the first time, including the new people he was meeting, the locations he was seeing, and the experiences.
It seemed as though fate was compensating him for the life he had lived in the past by providing him with a brand-new one without destroying the one he had. In his new existence, all he can sense is warmth and the kind words that come from the individuals he knows, unlike the cold, loneliness, and hurtful remarks he was used to hearing from others. Even though Xin Yue made an effort to adjust, he was unable to get used to the weird feeling.
Xin Yue was taken aback when the Moon God sighed and let off his hands, "As your Mother, all I could do was watch you grow up. But I didn't expect that you would be strong and beautiful, I am...so proud."
".........."
"I am sorry for....." The Moon God halted for a while and she continued with her words slightly cracking, "...abandoning you back then. I knew it was so cruel but it was all I could do just so you would live. My position is so high to the point that I can't even take care of my son because of my responsibilities..... After abandoning you to the Mortal Realm, I felt like I was leaving you to die alone. I was such a useless mother to you."
Xin Yue didn't know what to say. He sat at the edge of the bed as he quietly listened to his Mother as she talked, "As a Moon God, I need to bear children so that I can complete the Lunar Phases that will strengthen our Xin Family. But at that time, I didn't expect that I would meet your father."
The Moon God stared at his face as if she was staring at his father, "He was kind and handsome. He had everything and there was nothing I could wish for." She stared at the midnight sky outside the balcony from afar and continued to speak, "He was happy when he heard I was pregnant, however, a huge disaster appeared when I was about to give birth to you."
Her soft expression turned serious and her voice started to become rough, "Most of your father's powers were passed down to you instead of mine, and the high priestess said that it could threaten my life if i gave birth to you."
Xin Yue's fingers twitched as he listened to his Mother, the Moon God heaved a breath and continued, "Everyone considered you a monster because while most of your father's power was passed onto you, you also absorbed almost half of mine while you were inside me. Even the Sun God was angered and he ordered clergymen to secretly like you when they acted as if they were trying to solve the crisis of my pregnancy."
