Chapter 59: The Last Fight
Xin Yue felt as though a second sword had pierced his chest deeper and given him a slight dizziness. Xin Yue looked at Madam Xingying, who was looking devastated and had a perplexed expression on her face, still not believing what she had just spoken. He staggered and gripped his forehead. "Madam Xingying........you're.....not lying, right?"
Madam Xingying's lips trembled and she showed him a sad smile as she replied, "How could I lie to you?"
Xin Yue was exhausted from all that was happening to him all the time and wasn't sure how he would respond. He sat on the ground, leaning against the Fengxian Brothel gate, and gazed in apathy at the lights across the capital, "Why?" Xin Yue asked.
Madam Xingying glanced down at him with a bewildered expression, "What do you mean why, Xin Yue?"
"Why did they die?" Xin Yue took a deep breath and continued, "Who killed them?"
Madame Xingying attempted to reply, but she was unable to do so. She also responded, gazing down at the capital's lights below, "I apologize but.... Xin Yue, you need to go down to the capital of the Yong'an Empire to see it for yourself."
With a sorrowful expression, Madam Xingying gave him one final, fleeting glance before shutting the Fengxian Brothel gate. When Xin Yue stood up and waved his hand a little, a large crescent moon appeared on his palms and spread out to the size of a horse. Sitting on the crescent moon's arc, Xin Yue let it slowly rise into the night sky and descend straight to the capital of the Yong'an Empire.
The capital was bathed with brilliant light from lanterns suspended from the buildings, giving the city a majestic, beautiful appearance. But in the capital, nobody was visible, as though they were all gathered in one area. When Xin Yue noticed that several individuals were moving in the same direction down the alley, he decided to follow them. up until the point where he was facing the Yong'an Empire's capital.
Gazing up at the three long spears, the people were crowded close to one another. When Xin Yue arrived on the top of the guard tower's roof in front of the imperial palace, a large crescent moon appeared and then returned to the silver bracelet around Xin Yue's wrist, surrounded by a pure white divine qi. Xin Yue looked down at the individuals raising their heads to look at the three spears that were on exhibition in front of the gate of the imperial palace. However, Xin Yue felt as though his entire universe had turned upside down when he raised his gaze to the three spears.
The three spears penetrated the heads of three people. Liu Huangjin, Feng Xin, and Lian Pianxi—who was in her demon form—were among them. Xin Yue crouched on the roof's edge, covering his mouth to prevent nausea while continuing to stare at the heads pierced by the spear. His keen sense of hearing allowed him to hear the whispers of others below, but Xin Yue was unable to focus and continued to stare at the heads on the spear.
"How could this happen....."
"Look, a demon witch! Isn't that the Consort Lian Pianxi?"
"I knew that she was a demon! No woman can have an unearthly beauty like that! It was clear that she was a demon!"
Kill....
