Chapter 37: The Third Trial, Part 1
As soon as Xin Yue regained consciousness, he was perplexed. He felt like he was in a trance for a long time, not knowing what he was doing. His ears were ringing with an irritable sound that made him weak, and he fell to the ground with a thud, yelping in pain.
"Brother Yue!" Guan Xiushi called out and rushed in his direction, supporting his back from losing balance.
Xin Yue groaned and clenched his fists. He did not know where to touch because his head hurt from regaining consciousness, his ears were ringing, and his hips were slammed against the ground. "Did we win?" Xin Yue asked, biting his lip hard.
Guan Xiushi gulped from recalling his mistake earlier before replying with a smile, "Rather than saying that we won, it was a draw. The crystallized stone from our group and His Highness Leng Baiyun's group were destroyed at the same time." Guan Xiushi pondered for a while before continuing, "I didn't know how that happened, but it was a close call."
"Close call?" Xin Yue asked with his eyebrows arched.
"A-Ah! I mean, it was a close call that we nearly lost. Y-Yeah. It was it, I swear." Guan Xiushi replied with an awkward smile.
Xin Yue did not ask any further questions and sat down on a rock he saw somewhere. He exhaled a sigh and pushed his hair back, which was covering half of his face. "I can't remember anything. From what I remembered, we got separated, and I was in a creepy place."
Guan Xiushi replied, "That's the power of the Cloud of Agony. I knew from the start that Brother Yue was the target because that's how my father described it."
Xin Yue frowned at him. "What the——you knew I was the target from the start?! Why didn't you tell me?!"
Guan Xiushi yelled back, "I was about to tell you, but you suddenly disappeared! I knew that it was too late, so I just took it as an opportunity to hide and proceed with your plan!"
"Bastard! You!... Ugh! I'm too dizzy to argue with you," Xin Yue said as he groaned.
Xin Yue's mind was filled with jumbled thoughts. He intertwined his hands as he sat comfortably on the rock with a serious expression. What was that just now?... I felt itchy and hot. I don't remember, but I was too angry. Did I do something without my knowledge? But how could that happen? The glowing bulb said that even if I didn't cultivate it, I could already control the Lunar Essence's power effortlessly because of my royal blood. Then how could that happen? Should I ask about the glowing bulb? Or should I ask Banyue?
Xin Yue looked down at his palms, dazed. He felt a faint pale white divinity flowing out on the edge of his palms, as if he had recently used his divinity on someone unconsciously. He was about to start looking for the person when a soft rustle clung to his ear and alarmed him.
A luxurious black and gold fabric greeted him, as did the two golden eyes that were staring straight at him. Xin Yue knitted his brows and crossed his arms, looking both hostile and adorable, like a hissing cat. "It was a great battle, Your Highness Xin Yue. I did not expect to win because one of the Xin Family's fourth sons would be my opponent. It was an honor to battle with you," said Leng Baiyun, who had just arrived."
