LOCATION
THE PRIDE PALACE, THE SMP.BEHIND YOU, a heavy pair of footsteps sounded throughout the library. "have you found something you like?" you heard a voice call out to you, prompting you to turn around. you were met with eret, a light smile on their face. you smiled back and nodded. "yeah. i did." you responded, sighing quietly as you began stepping down from the ladder and walking away from one of many bookshelves against the literary sanctuary.
eret stretched out his hand, a gesture for him to see what books you obtained. you gave it to him and saw his smile widen, eyes scanning over the cover and synopsis on the back before giving it back to you. "i'll be back soon. there's been a book i've been wanting but i can't quite remember the title right now." you admitted. eret nodded at you. "of course of course. that's no problem. it's a pleasure having people here. do you think i'm gonna finish reading everything here in my life time?" she pressed on while taking a step forward and grandly gesturing towards the entire underground library.
it was indeed enormous with long hallways that slithered around and connected like a maze, all full of books old and new. the shelves reached up to the ceiling as high as a common corridor within the castle (higher than a stoner if you will), some moveable ladders at a reader's disposable to access every crook of each shelf. all shelves and books were surprisingly kept intact by eret, and you couldn't figure out how he did it. even the darker hallways that you never ventured yet were still filled with shelves and glass pane flooring that formed designs of greek myths had to be kept clean one way or another, and they always were every time you checked. you couldn't imagine owning such a luscious place.
you followed eret out the library, surveying the area with admiration, the healthy, swamp green vines hanging from the ceiling giving you a wave of departure if they were able to. you and eret stayed in a comfy silence the entire time treading down the corridors, recognizing the corners and turns with its decor still in their respective places. when you got passed the front courtyard and stood at the entrance gate, you bid your farewells to eret, hugging him and walking down the main path in the middle of the night. eret watched your figure fading away in the distance for a while, thinking about mobs attacking you before taking her leave.
admittedly, you were feeling more confident in your combat skills against mobs, having practiced with dream. now you were left prowling upon the land in the dead of night without a worry. you understood mobs as a mere annoyance and something that could give you materials and exp as a bonus. mob hunting definitely helped increase your exp levels, something you were proud of. while walking on the path, having to kill off a spider with your enchanted diamond sword, you spotted niki's bakery in the distance, its soft lighting besides torches ceaselessly burning on the path illuminating the most brightness through your eyes.
usually niki's closed by now. i wonder what she's up to. you thought, curiosity getting the best of you. you decided to tread down towards the bakery, glancing through the windows to see a glimpse of niki standing behind the counter. you pulled on the door handle and opened it. upon entering, the familiarly warm and vanilla-scented atmosphere clouded your senses, a soft smile settling your face. once the doors closed, it felt like the nighttime outside was a completely different world filled with mobs and danger, the stars being the only bright thing littering the universe's blanket.
in here though, everything was serene. few candles were burning on the counter for decor. the air that wafted in your nose with the aromas of different pastries just felt like a warm hug. your light footsteps against the wood floors interrupted the atmosphere, witnessing two faces turn towards you as they pried their attention away from their conversation. niki was behind the counter, smiling at you. "hi y/n!" she greeted softly in a high pitched voice, waving you over. you waved back as you moved closer. "hey." you said, glancing to your right to see someone familiar sitting at a chair that's been pulled out from a table, eating from the counter.
you two made eye contact as they finished chewing and swallowing their food. "hey. nice to meet you." hannahxxrose said, her voice in a milky, almost semi-monotone voice that sounded different but relaxing. "hey. i don't think we've met before." "yeah. i saw you here that one time." she confirmed, making you nod. "hannah, this is y/n. y/n, this is hannah." niki introduced for you, making you two smile at one another and chuckle quietly. "cmon! have a seat. would you like some food?" niki asked eagerly. "yeah! have a seat." hannah reaffirmed, standing up and going over to the table nearby, her hand hovering over an empty chair.
"yes. that would be lovely." you answered, prompting niki to bow with a smile and watch hannah bring over a chair, placing it next to her and patting the spot. you sat down as prompted. "your usual?" niki asked for confirmation, and you nodded, making her eyes sparkle and excitedly skip into the back room [oh no now niki's in the backrooms what will she do?], letting the swinging door create a slight creaking noise on the way in. "so how have you been? liking the people here?" hannah asked, starting conversation.
you chuckled. "yeah. a lot of different personalities." you noted aloud. hannah hummed in agreement. "mm. it's always like that whenever someone new comes here. that was my treatment here too. i was the last person to wake up here before you." she explained, an expression of intrigue riddling your face including raised eyebrows. "oh really? where did you wake up?" "a rose garden." she responded with a slight undertone of relief and happiness, gesturing to her username and the bobby pin holding up her hair that had a small rose on it.
"wow. really? that sounds more pleasant than the ones i've heard." hannah looked at you with furrowed eyebrows. "yeah. it has been. what about you? where'd you wake up?" she asked back with as much wonder and attentive interest laced in her eyes. "a lake. can't tell if water is something i'm scared of but it was.. a struggle i think the right word is." she nodded with sympathetic eyes. "gee yeah. the worst ones i've heard were from puffy and dream, waking up completely isolated. don't know if that's a greater problem than almost drowning though." she shrugged it off, trying to poke at you to see if you were comfortable with teasing.
you smiled and chuckled. "yeah. who knows." to hannah's surprise, she had a pleasant conversation with you, talking about the same things you've talked about with people over and over again with the smp and the universe. this time though, it didn't get boring. you actually found interest in hannah's point of view on things, feeling compelled to keep talking to her and absorbing her relaxing aura. for the rest of the night, niki fed the two of you and joined in on your discussions, laughing about funny stories and becoming serious at how the moon dictated the sea. at the end of it, you obtained hannah's number.
