PONK'S NETHER TREEHOUSE, THE SMP.✶ ❍ ✶

wilbur stood up nervously, staring up ahead at the dark, starless sky. tommy, phil, tubbo, fundy, ranboo, and techno followed in suite. techno gripped at his enchanted sword with vigor, all eyes ahead at the enderdragon flying around in the air.
"YOUR KNOWLEDGE SEEMS to be correct. the end has already been visited by people from the smp. it's an endless world that doesn't move. according to my maps, it seems to be at the very top of the cubes. maybe if you look deep enough, you might be able to see the cubes somewhere just below the endstone. the nether on the other hand seems to be an elevator that moves up at down right in the middle of every single cube. it's quite literally a hot spot for resources and for navigation." XD explained, confirming your questions about the nether and the end.
"how many cubes are there in all?" you asked. XD sighed at the question. "honestly, i cannot keep count." he made some menus appear, pointing out the long lists that stretched out onto three separate menus of the names of cubes and their apparent identification numbers. "you see here, this isn't even an indefinite list." he went on to press a button on the screen in the air, reverting the menus to load out into more cube names, except each slot displayed an N/A on its information. he tried to press 'more' again and nothing came up. "i can only access cubes that are active."

✶ ❍ ✶
FROM THE EVENTS THAT UNFOLDED last night and the informative conversation with XD, you undoubtedly notified ponk, running all the way to his treehouse with such valuable info and an eagerness to spill all of it to the doctor. you sat down with ponk and had a thorough conversation that almost imitated the one you had with XD, going over everything you learned about the nether and the end, and the fact that XD existed, glazing over the fact that he had a lot more control of this random game than anyone thought.
you also brought up the fact that replicants exist. you used your experiences as examples, telling ponk the details of the existence of the eggpire and of snowchester, and how the replicants behaved so differently yet similarly that it scared you. it gave you the chills just recalling seeing the dead bodies and resistible subjects of the eggpire and how niki was so tempted to beat you down and kill you in snowchester. "have you and quackity came across any replicants?" "no. just me i believe." thinking back to the snowchester incident, you realized that XD reminded you that it wasn't a nightmare.
when discussing how canon lives worked, XD brought up a menu with a list of users and their canon lives left, scrolling down to your username. he had an imaginary frown on his invisible eyebrows, his gaze flickering between you and your stats. "y/n, you only have two lives left. something happened where you lost a life." he explained. your eyebrows began to knit in confusion as well. "so you mean.. i died somewhere?" you asked. XD wasn't paying attention to you, watching him perk up in realization as a memory hit him. he remembered seeing something odd in the chat logs and a change of location with a few users from the smp one night.
he brought up the chat logs, scrolling through them until he got to a particular date with activity, finding your username. "you died by explosion... in snowchester. sound familiar to you?" XD asked, scouring through the logs and menus and showing your location within a different cube that night. that's when everything clicked in. "wait so.. that wasn't a nightmare?" you asked. "...i believe not, y/n." he hesitated to admit, feeling and seeing the fear riddling throughout your face. "i don't know what you were told but.. it seemed that you died along with the replicants of jackmanifoldtv and nihachu who were on their last lives. somebody who was there with you from the smp but made it out alive by transferring cubes is... tommyinnit."
and that was why tommy was crying at your bedside, running back to you in desperation, hoping you respawned safely. back to the discussion at hand, this was definitely a lot of information for ponk, taking note on everything you were saying like he was a therapist. another thing that seemed to appeal to him was the fact that there were id numbers that were on the top of the door frames of each cube door. "how did we not check for that? now we can use those numbers to keep track of cubes instead of having to mark them every time you explore." ponk let a thought slip out, taking note of the new idea. overall, once the conversation finally died down from early morning into afternoon, you and ponk laid back in your chairs, tuckered out from the revelations you both came across. ponk was sure to put these notes down in some secret records.
