LOCATION PONK'S NETHER TREEHOUSE, THE SMP.
"SO BASICALLY WHAT i wanna do for the first part of this whole thing is to monitor surrounding cubes. maybe keep track of some sort of weather patterns. maybe. not sure since past data hasn't really shown any correlation with weather but anything can change." ponk explained, pointing out past records and notes on the table as he stood beside you.
you nodded and took a quick note of ideas that she presented in your own journal, imagining what it would be like to go on an expedition to the other cubes. you've realized overtime that you've been to another cube already, keeping that experience to yourself. as ponk continued presenting some plans and teaching you about scientific concepts in books they borrowed from the library, a knock was heard at the door, interrupting their lecture.
"oh uh- excuse me." ponk said rather formally as a way of apologizing, walking over to the door and opening it. "hey." "oh hey! welcome. come in." when ponk moved aside to let the person in, you were met with quackity, locking eyes with him and seeing him give you a small smile. "hey y/n." "hey alex." you greeted, deciding to grab a chair nearby and placing it next to you, gesturing for him to have a seat. quackity obliged, sitting down and nodding at you in thanks.
ponk walked back over to the front of the table and sat at his own cushioned leather office chair, letting out a sigh of relaxation while she stretched out a bit, arms in the air for a brief moment. you gave them a knowing look, thinking about how they've been lecturing you all day. as interesting as the topics were, you thought ponk could use a break. after all, teaching could be a stressful thing. you were lucky to have someone who was glad to teach you and was passionate about what they were talking about. they presented the material properly and executed their teaching style well.
once ponk was done, his eyes flickered between the two of you. "well, y/n, i wanted to surprise you a bit. there's a reason why quackity's here." she stated, putting her feet up on the table and getting comfortable. your eyebrows raised in curiosity, prompting them to go on. "quackity has agreed to help us in the experiments. he'll be traveling alongside you on expeditions." ponk explained, making your smile widen in excitement.
quackity watched the way you lit up, causing him to smile too. he was glad he has your approval on this. he was aware of how serious ponk took their science endeavors because of past experiments. so to know he was going to be working with someone he'll get along with and may even learn some science along the way definitely made him excited as well. "t-that's-" you started off wordlessly, your eyes slowly trailing to your right to look at quackity as you held your face in your hands, "that's amazing. thank you!" you exclaimed with a small giggle, making ponk and quackity laugh.
quackity continued to beam at you, his smile contorting slowly into a grin as he took the time to converse with you two and crack some jokes. "alright well uhhh- what are we learning about? i only came here because i was asked and i have no clue what we're getting into, doc." quackity said as the laughter died down, slowly shifting his chair so that he was sitting directly beside you. ponk stretched out again and swiveled in his chair towards the chalk board, pointing out the equations written and what they meant.
quackity causally outstretched his arm and rested it behind your chair, leaning forward to analyze your journal. you watched his eyes slowly scan the equations you wrote and notes you took, really basking in everything while nodding and listening to ponk. you can tell he had his full focus on as his eyebrows were knitted together in thought and the reflection in his eyes shown interest in your math and science work. quackity eventually felt you staring at his face and he glanced to the side to see you doing so, causing you two to crack grateful smiles at one another.
I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR ANYONE ELSE TO WORK WITH ME.
