Ash & Eiji headcannons
Disclaimer: These are just my headcannons, just ones that i could see. I'm not saying that they are real just what i happen to think of :)

-Ash is asexual. This is one ive heard before but i think he is based on what's happened to him. I definitely think he's got PTSD, which would make it difficult for him to do anything sexual. I think that there's a possibility that over time he could be more open to things, but only because of Eiji.

-Eiji is also sort of asexual, he's just never really been interested in anything sexual. He isn't completely objected to it though, like he isnt to the level of where Ash was in the anime/manga.

-Eiji always feels like he shoudlnt have any problems since he hasn't been through what Ash has been through. If he has a bad day, he feels like it's stupid since Ash has been through so much worse then just one single bad day. So Ash has to assure him that bad days are for everyone and that Eiji has trauma. And that it's completely okay for him to have bad days as well.

-Ash needs assurance that he isnt a bad person, and that Eiji isn't going to leave him. He is just under the belief that everyone is going to leave and that he is just a horrible person. But Eiji, every single day, tells him that he is such a good person. And that's because he is, Ash just doesn't believe that.

-Ash will NOT ask for help. He's grown up never asking for help, so if Eiji notices that somethings wrong, which he always does. That's how Ash gets help.

-Follow up of the one above:
Eiji was able to talk Ash into the possibility of therapy. Eiji wasn't going to force him, and he didn't. Ash just realized that therapy might actually help him. And over time, with therapy and Eiji's help, he did start to get a little bit better.

-Unfortunately, with all that's happened to him, Ash won't ever fully recover. That's because recovery is hard. And so is what Ash went through. But, he does manage to get a little better.

-Ash is never really able to get over Shorter and Skipper's deaths. He often gets flashbacks to them dying. And he can't forgive himself for killing shorter. But, deep deep inside him, he knows it was for the best. He's been able to learn over time that when he killed shorter, it wasn't actually shorter. It wasn't the real shorter. It was the drugged without choice shorter, the one who was in pain. Ash has been able to learn that he helped Shoter since he was in pain, and now he isnt. That's what he is trying to beleieve at least. He really hopes that shorter isnt in pain anymore. And with skipper, he can't help but think that his death was also his fault. And that's because Skipper wouldn't have been kidnapped if Ash had been protecting him. That's what ash believes. But he's also been able to learn that there's nothing he could've done. He's sort of been able to realize that he couldn't have helped him, he knows it happened to fast and that he couldn't have saved him. He hates that he wasn't able to save him since he was so young, and had so much left to live for. But he's slowly trying to live with it.

-Ash has never really experienced a happy holiday. Like he's never experienced a holiday with people he cares about, and had a good time. He doesn't understand what it's like to celebrate holidays. He has always wanted to celebrate chrsitmas, and be away from new york. But he was never given that chance. When he got to Japan is Eiji, when it got to christmas time, Eiji made it the best he could. Ash loved it so much, he loves all the decorations and the atmosphere of Christmas. He wouldn't admit it, but Eiji could tell how happy Ash was to finally experience a regular holiday, without pain.

-I feel that Ash might struggle from a ED. I feel like he has lots of times where he's barley able to eat anything, and if he does he feels sick. I think that's because of little he ate to stay in shape back in new york. But Eiji helps him through it. He helps him eat, and makes food Ash will like. He's very understanding to, he doesn't get mad when Ash is unable to eat. He just makes him drink water, and then has him try again later. He never gets angry.

-Ash and Eiji are very understanding of each other. They always know how to help the other, and how to make them feel loved.

-Ash is good with kids, so he and Eiji babysit Michael. Eiji is also good with kids :))

-Ash loves Michael in ways that he can't explain. That night when he held Michael and tried to help him after bad men had came and tried to hurt him and Jessica, he saw a little version of himself. He saw the pain in Michael's eyes, and wanted to help. He also didn't want what happened to Skip to happen to Michael. So Ash loves Michael so much.

-Ash also loves Max, he sort of thinks of him as a father figure simply because of how much Max cared about him. He won't ever admit it, but he loves Max and Jessica a lot.
