"Sayaka Akiko! Are you even listening to me?" Syo waved his hands in front of my face a few times. I blinked, startled, and smiled apologetically at him.

"Sorry Syo, what did you say?" I asked, smiling guiltily.

"Why are you so out of it today? You're not normally like this," Syo wondered out loud, peering at me closely.

I leaned backwards automatically, and laughed, "sorry, I guess I'm just tired. I didn't sleep that well during camping."

"Oh right, that camping trip. Was it fun?" he asked, frowning slightly, "I wanted to go so badly! But we had an interview that day."

"It was fun," I replied vaguely, "next time, you should definitely come with us."

"Did you get closer with them?" Syo asked, leaning closer, a mischievous smile appearing on his face.

"S-Syo!" I exclaimed, flustered, "I got to know them better, that's all."

He laughed, and leaned back to his original position, "you're so fun to tease, Akiko."

We were relaxing in a coffee shop late afternoon. I had just came back this morning, and I was dropped off to my house while the Quartet Night members went to their schedules. I guess the reasonable thing I should've done was go to sleep, but I knew my parents would frown upon that. My dad always believed to never break your sleep habits.

So instead, I had wandered around the neighbourhood for a bit in the morning, missing my friends more than ever. In the midst of my self-gloom, Syo was miraculously free today, and called me to ask me if I wanted to hang out for a bit.

So here we were, chatting and laughing. I realized how much I had missed him in those past 3 days, though I would never admit it openly to him. He really was an inseperable childhood friend.

"Are you still writing songs for fun?" he questioned, "or have you already been assigned to write a song for them?"

"I guess I've already been told to compose a song for them...." I hesitated, "but I don't think the songs I've written lately are up to.....their standards."

"Or your standards," he corrected, rolling his eyes. He knew how high my parents' standards were, and I guess I had naturally learned from them to never accept anything less than perfect.

"I want my first song I compose for them to be the best yet," I argued, "so I really want to work on this."

"Do you have a deadline?" Syo inquired.

I shook my head, "but I feel like I'm going to get one soon."

Koe wo kika sete.

Kami wo nabi kase.

Ah...lesson of the night.

Slowly, slowly.

My phone suddenly starting ringing, and I glanced at it, startled. I picked up.

"Moshi moshi?" I answered curiously.

"Akiko-chan?" Ai's clear voice answered. I nearly dropped the phone, but caught it last minute, and cleared my throat awkwardly. Syo slowly raised his eyebrows, clearly amused by whatever I was doing.

"Um...yes?" I asked.

"Reiji wanted to talk to you. Will you go to our dorm?" he asked smoothly.

"Reiji? But then.........why would you call?" I asked, confused.

I heard him sigh, sounding frustrated, "he just told me to call you, and then he ran out of the room. You know how he is. Don't hurry to come here, though. I think he's going to ask you to cook for us or something. It's nothing important."
