"Wow~" Reiji-senpai gushed. The five of us sat around the fire, hypnotized by the crackling flames that lept higher and higher.
When we had gotten back to our campsite, it had already began to get dark. We all had automatically began to build a tent-like structure from the firewood that Mr. Saotome had given us. Even if he had told my parents that there would be a lot of staff here, I sure didn't see anyone yet.
Surprisingly, we were all pretty good at building the campfire. But perhaps it probably wasn't a hard task to do overall. As my dad used to say, there were some tasks that everyone should be able to do. If they couldn't do it, that just simply meant they didn't try.
Reiji-senpai had begged to be the one to start the fire. After the fire was lit, we all brought out the chairs, and sat around the campfire silently. The flames were so captivating that I didn't even realize none of us were talking until Ai-senpai cleared his throat.
"We have to start preparing dinner now," he informed us, "it is 7:15:09 right now."
The three other members didn't seem surprised and simply nodded, but I stared at Ai-senpai in shock, "how did you know what time it was down to the nearest second?"
He blinked. In the fire, it looked like the fire was lighting up in a pool of water, "that's basic skills, being able to tell time without a watch."
I shook my head slowly, "noooo....that's definitely not a common skill," I peered at his face, "are you sure you're even human?"
Even though I had meant for it to be as a joke, Reiji-senpai suddenly flinched for no reason, "c-come on, Akiko-chan! Even I know how to do that!"
Though he cracked a smile afterwards, I knew that something was wrong. However, I didn't press it. After all, I really didn't know any of them that well yet.
"Well, do you want to assign cooking duties?" Ranmaru-senpai grumbled, "I'm hungry."
"OH OH I'LL DO I-!" Reiji-senpai began eagerly.
"NO!" Camus-senpai suddenly intrueppted. That was the most emotion I had seen him express all day.
"Why not?" Reiji-senpai pouted.
"Because the last time you tried to cook for us while camping, you burned everything! Me and Kurosaki ended up re-cooking everything," Camus-senpai grumbled, "Sayaka-san, would you like to do it? Ai will help you."
"Cooking is not an activity I do often," Ai-senpai reminded him.
"You're still better than Reiji," Camus-senpai replied firmly.
"Hey!" Reiji-senpai huffed, "I'm really good! But fine.....I'll do it tomorrow, though. Then you'll see how good my cooking is!"
I laughed lightly, getting out of my chair. Still listening to those two bickering, I headed over to our cooler to see what we could cook.
"You should do hotdogs today. Hamburgers should be saved for tomorrow," Ai-senpai intruded my thoughts (again) from behind.
"Hot dogs? Um....do you know where they are?" I frowned, "I don't think they're in here."
"Of course they should be. If you leave those hot dogs outside for longer than 2 hours in room temperature, they would go bad. Outside like this, there is also the possibility of animals preying on it," Ai-senpai stated.
I heard him sigh as he bent down beside me, and started rummaging through the cooler as well. I quickly took my hands out, and rubbed them together to try to get them warm again.
"That's not good for your skin if you do that often," Ai-senpai frowned, glancing back at me. I stopped, casting him a tired look before sitting back down on the grass.
