A leaf was tickling me. I squirmed around, trying to stop it from brushing my cheek. Realizing that wasn't going to work, I tried to ignore it. But the harder I tried, the more I thought about it. Couldn't it just stop?
How was a leaf tickling me anyways? I tried to think, but my brain felt foggy. I wasn't sure if this was even real. After all, shouldn't I be at home, on my comfortable bed? So why do I feel so sore....
A cold breeze whistled by, and I involuntarily shivered. I snuggled deeper into my bed, and sighed. Why was there a wind in my bedroom? Had I forgotten to close the windows?
Sensing that something was off, I tried to shake away the fog. Where was I?
...oh yeah. I went camping, right? With the people I would compose for. So why was I sleeping....?
"Don't wake up this early if you're just going to go back to sleep," a rather annoyed voice penetrated my drowsy thoughts.
My eyes suddenly shot open, my mind crystal-clear. Everything came rushing back to me - how I had accidently set my alarm one hour early, and how I was preparing to make breakfast with Ai-senpai. But why was I sleeping......?
From my position, I could only see the grass and the tents in front of me, thought at a slanted angle. Was I lying down then? But how come my pillow felt so comfortable, then? I widened my eyes, the thoughts piecing itself together to form the only conclusion possible.
I straightened up as quickly as possible, and turned to my "pillow". Sure enough, Ai-senpai was looking back at me, though his expression was rather annoyed.
I blushed, and looked at the ground, "s-sorry! I'm sorry for falling asleep!"
Ai-senpai sighed heavily, "if I hadn't been beside you, you would've crashed to the ground."
"Um......uh.....th-thanks for catching me," I muttered. Biting my lip, I looked back at his face. The annoyance had faded away, and he was looking a bit more understanding now.
"You only fell asleep for 30 minutes, though. Nobody else is awake even now," Ai-senpai continued, "however, the waffles are already done. I have put them on the plates already, so they are ready to eat. Are you hungry?"
I nodded slowly, "I guess that's the only bright side to waking up early. You get to eat early as well."
Scooting over to the plates filled with waffles, I took a piece from the top and poured syrup over it. Ai-senpai mirrored my movements, and sat down silently beside me. We both started eating. Though there was a rather awkward silence, I didn't dare to start speaking. I was already embarrassed enough by what had happened.
"You fell back asleep," Ai-senpai said out of nowhere.
I looked at him, confused, "pardon?"
"You said you couldn't fall asleep after you woke up. Well, you fell asleep just now," Ai-senpai frowned slightly, "even though you were nowhere close to a bed."
"I don't think I've ever woken up this early before. I think I was really tired and still half-asleep," I replied sheepishly.
"But this proves that you can fall back asleep. Perhaps it's because you need to do something else to make you tired before you try to fall back asleep, if you were to wake up in the middle of the night," he replied.
I smiled, "I think I'll do that the next time it happens."
We finished up our waffles, and settled back into our chairs. Just in time, Reiji-senpai came bounding out of his tent cheerfully. It looked like he had been up for ages already. He was clearly more of a morning person then I was.
