Lydia and Diana were usually left a few steps behind, considering they didn't have supernatural speed or durability like Scott and Malia, but they did try their best to try and keep up. That didn't mean, however, that the two of them weren't grateful for all the moments the two were-something decided to stop and catch a breath so they could catch up with them.
"We can still catch him." Malia said, placing a hand on Scott's shoulder as the alpha looked around frantically.
"Catch who?" Scott asked, confused as Malia frowned.
"The killer." She said. "What were you thinking about?"
"Getting the bullet to Argent." Scott said, holding the bullet case up for the girls to see as Diana frowned.
"Even if he's the one who fired it?" She asked, causing Scott to nod at her.
"Especially if he's the one." He said and just as Diana was about to say something else, he stopped, closing his eyes and tilting his head as he focused on his hearing. "Do you hear that?"
At his question, Malia did the same, closing her eyes for a second before nodding.
"Heartbeats." She said.
"A lot of them." Scott said. "They're coming."
"Who?" Lydia asked, as Scott turned around to the source of the sound and widened his eyes when he saw a flash of light coming their way.
"Hunters." He said. "Run!"
And before they could even say anything else, Scott had already turned around and dashed out through the woods. Just as Malia was about to the same, Diana frowned, reaching for her wrist to stop her.
"What?" She demanded.
"They're not hunters." Diana said, squinting her eyes a little as she raised a hand to block some of the light. "Sheriff?"
"Diana." The man called back, telling his men to stand back for a second as he and Parrish moved toward the girls. "What are you doing here?"
"Hum... Long story." She shrugged a little, smiling sheepishly at the sheriff before turning to look at Malia. "Go get Scott."
"Where is he?" The sheriff asked, as Malia took off after their alpha.
"I... I don't know." Diana shook her head. "Around? I'm not sure."
"Let's find him then."
Diana nodded then, following after the few deputies the sheriff had brought with him as they walked further and further into the woods. Eventually, they did find Scott and he was alone, looking very much freaked out, so, trying to calm him down, the sheriff took a step forward, only to have Scott jump over him as he rolled with the man a little, roaring down at him.
"Scott. Scott, it's me!" The sheriff said, as Diana, Lydia and Malia who had rejoined them, watched from afar with their mouths hanging open. "It's me! Scott! Scott. Okay, okay. Come on. It's okay. It's okay. Everybody, stay back. It's just a kid."
Getting up from the ground, the sheriff stood protectively in front of Scott when he noticed all of his deputies with their guns out at him.
"What's wrong with his eyes?" One of the deputies asked, causing Parrish to stand a little in front of her to prevent her from seeing Scott properly.
"You heard the sheriff, stand down!" He ordered again as the woman reluctantly put her gun down.
With his head still hanging in shame, Scott found the girls' eyes and sighed when he noticed their worried looks, but, as the sheriff turned around to make sure he was okay, Scott realized he felt even worse.
