December 25th, 1978 - Nephera and Sirius's Home

Nephera woke up to an unusually cold bed that morning, which was to be expected since it had been snowing for the past week straight, leading the entire house to feel cold. What she wasn't expecting was her human heater to be missing from the aforementioned bed.

Slightly alarmed, for she couldn't hear any sounds coming from downstairs, she sat up, shivering slightly since the only thing she was wearing was Sirius's old Quidditch jersey. Her answer to where the wizard was came a few seconds after when she noticed a note on her bedside table.

Happy Christmas love,

I got an owl from James earlier, apparently, he wanted me to come check out what Lily got him from Christmas, so I left early. There's coffee downstairs, as well as croissants from Julie's.

I'll see you at James and Lily's at noon

"Lily better not have gifted James a bloody threesome for Christmas," she grumbled out loud, laughing at her own joke a few seconds later

Typically, someone would be rightfully annoyed that their significant other had ditched them to hang out with their best friend on Christmas morning. Nephera would be too if she hadn't known that dating Sirius, meant dating all four of the marauders as well.

Checking the watch on her wrist, she saw that it was only ten in the morning, meaning that she still had some time before she got ready. Not a lot of people knew this about the girl, but she loved snow more than any other weather. Everything seemed quiet and peaceful whenever it snowed, as though the world had been put on pause so that everyone in it could appreciate the beauty.

She supposed it was a remnant from her childhood, from before her father put up the curtains in her room. She'd spend hours looking outside the window, ignoring everything else that got on in Winchester manor, and thinking about what she'd do if her friends were there with her.

Only in her most private moments did Nephera indulge in such fantasies when she was a young child. The young brunette would look out her window and think about having friends to play with, roll around in the snow, and then retreat back inside only when they'd gotten socked to the very bone and were shivering. And after they went inside, her mother would be there with mugs of hot chocolate and a warm smile on her face.

Yet, even then, ten years ago, the girl couldn't linger insider her own mind too long. She had to be alert, careful not to step out of line and anger her parents, especially during the holiday season when her parents hosted so many different guests in the manor.

Something inside her missed her two best friends more than usual that day. She still wore Tony's locket around her neck, the one he had gifted her for her seventeenth birthday back in sixth year, and he had enchanted to display memories of the three of them. Nephera allowed herself a break, opening the locket and peering inside to see the different memories display themselves.

It was a bittersweet feeling, really, for seeing the three of them so young and carefree brought a smile to her face, but also reminded her how fast everything changed after fifth year.

She'd never told Sirius this, but after he had run away during Christmas of fifth year, her father had tightened the leash around her, fearful that she'd do the same thing. She supposed it was true for most children of pureblood families, even the ones that were "properly behaved", after all, the raven-haired boy had all but shouted a giant '"Fuck you" at Walburga by leaving, none of the other parents wanted to suffer the same embarrassment.
