August 27th, 1979 - Nephera and Sirius's Home

The raven-haired boy hadn't left Nephera's side ever since the day of her departure was announced. It seemed as though the thought of spending so much time apart from her in the future had made him want to spend as much time as possible with her in the present, not that she was complaining, of course, "What I don't understand is why you wanted Gids to join you," commented Sirius

Gideon raised his glass, approving the question from his position next to Remus on the couch. The four teenagers had met up on one of the rare afternoons Sirius, Remus, and Gideon didn't have to work. James was with Lily, getting everything ready for the wedding that had been moved up in order for Nephera and Peter to be able to attend, while the mousy boy was following Emily Gids, on Nephera's orders.

"It's simple," replied the witch, "Dumbledore doesn't like nor trust me, he'd definitely try and appoint one of his supporters on my team, people who are loyal to him and only to him. One of them is Gids-"

Remus, who had already realized why the girl had done what she did, continued for her, "And you know Gids, you know her pressure points, her strengths, her weaknesses. Better the enemy you know than the one you don't, right?"

Nephera nodded, "They won't be able to catch up to you if you're one step ahead of them," she mused, popping a piece of apple in her mouth, "That's why I've got wormtail trailing her right now, if I know the old bat well enough, he'll have some sort ploy to enact,"

Sirius had been raised as a firstborn in the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, intended to inherit the family name and reputation. This meant that when he was younger, before even attending Hogwarts, his parents had forced tutors upon him, tutors that were meant to teach him the intricacy of politics, schemes, and ploys.

He had never paid attention to those classes, choosing to daydream instead of listening, and now he was paying the price for it.

It all made his head hurt, who was supporting who, who was doing what and why they were doing it, the lies, the manipulations... It was confusing, to say the least, and he only wished for a single day of peace, where he wouldn't have to worry about war and death.

Miles away from the small cottage on the North of England, Peter Pettigrew was hidden under Emily Gids' couch, in rat form. The boy truly liked Nephera, she was one of his closest friends, but this, well, this was simply demeaning. He had been there for days, only leaving when she fell asleep, and even then, he didn't stray too far, simply in order to get something to eat so he wouldn't starve.

His mission was simple, observe and report back. As a rat, he was unseen and unheard, lurking in the shadows and waiting for that one piece of information Nephera could use against the girl. The wizard himself knew the younger witch quite well, she had been obsessed with Sirius as soon as she'd stepped foot into Hogwarts, and she often forced her company on the marauders when they had never asked for it.

Apart from the girls' unhealthy obsession with his best friend, Emily Gids was as dull as they got. She smoked, she preferred whiskey out of all other drinks, she dressed in a simple fashion, mostly in black colors, and whenever her friends visited, she tried to talk about dignified manners, but obviously failed.

Wormtail watched as the girl entered the living room, carrying a bowl of pomegranate in one hand and a book in the other. He squinted, trying to get a look at the title of the book, and cursed his rat eyesight. Scurrying away from the couch, he hid behind a curtain to gain a better vantage point, and only then was he able to see the title of the book, 'Origins of the Dark Arts'.
