note: this is my first time attempting to write grief/the healing process, typically i just do a time jump and let you assume how the group/nephie heals because I don't want to do it injustice by writing it badly, however, i wanted to try, so please be gentle
also, i better not see any comments about how nephie's being "embarassing" etc, because i've seen them in other fics and all i have to say is i am very protective of my character, and she is dealing with intense trauma
May 7th, 1980 - Grimmauld Place
Lily was having a calm night, as calm as she could be with a baby kicking her from the inside while she fought against the urge to slam her head on the table as she hit yet another dead end when it came to figuring out a spell to break Nephera's obliviation. James was at work, as was Sirius, and Remus had gone outside to smoke a cigarette with Peter, the two of them not wanting to smoke while she was in the room, leaving her alone inside Grimmauld.
She picked up a quill and a peice of parchment, thinking of writing to Marlene and Dorcas, she always went to them when she had an issue, despite what many people would believe, Marlene was better at giving advice than most people gave her credit for. She missed them even more that day, she was happy they had gone into hiding, at least she wouldn't have to worry about her friends' safety any longer, but Merlin, she needed those two.
Before she could put quill to parchment, though, the fireplace roared green and out stepped probably the last person she would expect, that being Sirius, with what looked like a hysteric Nephera in his arms. She paused for a moment, unsure of what was going on, instinctively grabbing her wand. She didn't know if Nephera remembered or nor, but she wasn't about to take any risks.
"She remembers," said Sirius, setting her out as gently as he could on the couch
The redhead didn't ask for any further clarification, she didn't think Sirius would be able to tell her even if she did, not with the way his eyes were zeroed in on the brunette shaking on the couch. She snapped into action, expecting the worse judging by Nephera's reaction, although who could blame her? She had seen Nephera after a literal duel with Riddle, her eyes bleeding because of a curse which would kill her in the next few minutes, and the girl was as calm as a bloody rock, so to see her now in near hysterics, Lily truly thought she was dying.
Imagine her suprise, then, when Sirius simply said, "It's only her head and her ankle, and she splinched too, her wrist got caught, I don't see anything else,"
She nodded, momentarily being distracted by James stepping out of the flames, although she raised an eyebrow when he went straight for the kitchen, before she shook her head and focused her attention back on the girl.
"Keep her still, Sirius," she muttered, raising her wand towards Nephera's head, trying to heal the wound there with much difficulty as the girl kept shaking
The wizard didn't reply, simply tightening his arms around the girl and lifting her head, helping the medi-witch get a better view of the injury. Lily healed it quickly, and then moved on to Nephera's ankle, which thankfully was incredibly easy to heal, before moving on to her hand. When she went to touch her wrist, though, Nephera jerked her hand back violently, and pushed herself even further into Sirius's chest, her sobs increasing once more.
Sirius didn't need to ask why she had reacted that way, "It's from the silencing mancles, back in sixth and seventh year," he explained, taking Nephera's wrist in his own hand, the girl reacting much better to his touch than she had to Lily's
"This might hurt a bit," warned the redhead, and Sirius nodded
Nephera winced and cried out slightly when her wrist snapped back into place, leaning into Sirius, before Lily pulled her back gently, "Nephera, i need you to tell me if anything else hurts," she tried, although the girl was practically unresponsive by that point
