March 10th, 1979 - Lupin Cottage
Sirius had half a mind to figure out some sort of spell that could permanently erase the moon from the sky. Hell, he'd drag the danmed thing down himself if he could, because not once had the moon been kind to Remus.
Not when he was four years old and he got bit.
Not when he was eleven years old and had to lie to the first friends he ever made.
Not tonight, when he had to spend his nineteenth birthday clawing into himself and groaning in pain.
It was still relatively early, the transformation wouldn't start for an hour at least, and Remus was sleeping for the moment. Lyall and Hope where in Hope's parents house in London, despite how much the woman wanted to be there for her son, her deteriorating health rendered her so weak she wouldn't be able to do much to help. In fact, Nephera supposed it was better that Hope wasn't there, for Remus couldn't always handle seeing his mother so sick.
Gideon had just left, the redhead wanted to be there for the werewolf, but accepted the fact that Remus wasn't ready to for Gideon to see him at his worst, "I think it'll be a rough one tonight," sighed Peter, "Do you have everything ready for the morning, Neph?"
"I do, don't worry. And Prongs, thank Lily for some of the potions, Salazar knows I wouldn't have time to brew everything myself,"
Sirius walked into the house at that moment, having been done with overseeing the new Auror's training, "Have you seen this?" he asked, and the brunette could practically see the smoke coming out of his ears
"What happened? Marlene published another article?" asked James, leaning forward and taking the Prophet from Sirius's hands
Marlene truly was playing with her fate, although Nephera supposed she was the last person that could judge someone for doing so. Each article was more provocative than the previous one, and despite the many warnings, she still refused to publish them anonymously.
For the moment, she was safe. Nephera knew how Voldemort worked, and he wouldn't kill her now that her writing was getting so much attention. That would only make the blonde girl a martyr, thus bringing more attention to her articles, which was the last thing the Dark Lord wanted at the moment.
However, judging by the way James's eyes darkened, almost dangerously so, Nephera supposed it wasn't Marlene's article he was looking at.
The bespectacled boy slammed the paper down on the table, letting the other two read what was on the front page.
Wizengamot official D. Umbridge proposes new measures against those infected by Lycanthropy
The news laws concerning Lycanthropy have spiked controversy in an already polarised time in the Wizarding World. Some people think them to be inhumane, others believe they are necessary for the protection of witches and wizards in Britain.
Dolores Umbridge, the woman behind the measures that have now been adopted by the Ministry as a whole has been notorious over the years for her prejudice against creatures. It is really no surprise that such a law was proposed by her, but we cannot help but ask if this truly is the best time to introduce more controversy in our world.
'It's preposterous how the Ministry has let those monsters run around free for the past decades,' states Dolores Umbridge, 'The events of this war have only proven that. Werewolves are siding with He-who-shall-not-be-named, they are monsters, and they must be regulated. This measure is the first step towards doing so,'
