Guilty or not guilty?

The jury took longer than we all thought to decide, I couldn't take my eyes off Mercedes who was arguing with her solicitor because he was doing a rubbish job. The jury walked back in, they all sat down and I met eyes with an old man, who was the spokes person, who was sitting on the end. He quickly looked away then scratched his nose. I turned and looked forward, right through the middle of Grace and Mercedes.

"Have the jury came up with a conclusion?" The judge asked.

"We have," The old man said, his hands were shaking as he placed them in front of him and opened a bit of paper he had written things down on.

"How does the court find Grace Black, guilty or not guilty of frameup?" He asked, I was still quite calm at this point, if I was even calm in the first place.

"Guilty," The old man read out, I rubbed my face with my hands. If Grace was guilty then it was inevitable that we were all going to be found guilty.

"The court sentences Grace Black to three years in prison," The judge shouted, banging the hammer three times on the desk. Two gaurds grabbed Grace and she tried to struggle free. They didn't take her anywhere, they just grabbed her.

"How does the court find Mercedes MCQueen, guilty or not guilty of frameup?" The judge asked.

"Guilty," The old man read out, I felt myself welling up inside. This had all horribly backfired.

"How does the court find Mercedes McQueen, guilty or not guilty of fraud?" The judge asked.

""Guilty," The old man shouted. I felt sick to my stomach.

"The court sentences Mercedes McQueen to six years in prison," The judge bellowed, two guards grabbed her aswell. Now it was my turn.

"How does the court find Ellie-Anna McQueen, guilty or not guilty of frameup?" The judge asked and it felt like my heart was skipping pretty much all my beats.

"Guilty," The man said, more quietly than before.

"How does the court find Ellie-Anna McQueen, guilty or not guilty of fraud?" The judge asked, I knew I was guilty even before he answered.

"Guilty," The man said and I laughed a little at how right I was.

"The court sentences Ellie-Anna McQueen to eight years in prison," The judge said. Eight? Eight. Eight couldn't be right, Mercedes only got six.

"What?" I gasped, trying to struggle from the men who had grabbed me.

"In conclusion, they each reciever three years in jail for frame up. Mercedes and Ellie-Anna get two years for fraud because they pretended to be dead, which is also a criminal offence. However, Ellie-Anna gets three extra years for planting false evidence and giving the polcie a fake statement. I have never heard of a crime so well planned but that failed so quickly, Freddie Roscoe is an innocent man who has been wrongly accused and in prisoned. And for that, the court appologises and we will pay for any inconvienice," The judge said, before smashing his hammer on the desk.

"Take them down," He whispered, I couldn't bring myself to look at Mum or anyone. By Mercedes trying to help she had just made things worse.

8 years, 96 months, 417.5 weeks, 2922 days, 70126.5 hours, of my life wasted because my sister and her silly friend dragged me into a worthless crime to get back at him for what? Nothing. The next time I would see proper day light, brath fresh air I would be 25 years old. For once in my life, I wished Mercedes had actually died when she was stabbed. I wish her body was never found so nobody could be actually charged for it, and most of all. I wish when I was stabbed, I wish Grace had killed me too.
