'Si vis pacem, para bellum'
(If you want peace, prepare for war)
- Epitoma Rei Militaris, Roman general VegetiusNarrator's POV
Right after the court hearing, the old man, Jung Hyunsuk, hopped on his car with his phone on his hand, placed near his ear as he talked to his daughter. "How'd it go?" his daughter, Nari, asked.
"I win...as usual," the old man responded with a hint of arrogance in his tone which caused Nari to laugh.
"Well, congrats then. Will we be eating out tonight?" Nari asked, enthusiastically as the old man started his engine.
"Yes of course. Win or lose, we'll get some delicious lobster and a Cabarnet Sauvignon!"
"That sounds awesome, dad! Can't wait to go later!" The old man smiled to himself upon hearing his daughters' exclaim.
"I know—I'll talk to you later, I'm driving right now,"
"Okay. Bye, love you, dad!"
"Love you too, darling," he hung off and stuffed his phone back to his pocket as he proceeded to divert all his attention towards the road. He began to drive, stopping from time to time since there are stop lights. From those time he would halt, he decided to change the frequencies of the radio to find something to listen to while driving.
Not until something caught his attention.
"The verdict has been said. CEO of Sokji Pharmaceuticals, Lee Kwangsoo, will be sentenced to prison for tax evasion and other charges which has been proven to be true upon the careful and diligent court trial,"
"It has also been proven that the company has been using harmful, illegal drugs in manufacturing their products..."
Hyunsuk bit his bottom lip as he began to drive away while listening carefully to the radio where the reporter is summarizing the trial of Kwangsoo, whom is the man he had just seen in the courtroom earlier, as he fought against him to protect the rights of the complainants. The man wore a shabby suit, had a mullet hair, bags under his eyes, signifying that he is exhausted and had not been able to sleep for days. He had also been glaring at Hyunsuk who just simply did his job as an attorney at law.
That is why he won't forget him because of the way he glares at him.
"You deserve it," he muttered under his breath as he turned off the radio and halted the car right in front of his company building, where his employees rush to greet him.
"Good afternoon, sir," Hyunsuk smiled as he hopped off and tossed his car keys to his valet who drove the car away to park it. His secretary, Kim Ara, approached him. The young woman in her 30's wore a black pencil skirt, blouse, paired with heels and her hair, tied up in a bun; making her look formal.
"Good afternoon, sir. How was the trial?" She asked as she held a tablet in her hand.
"It went well—what's left on my schedule?" Hyunsuk asked as he buttoned his jacket.
"A meeting with the—" Ara's words were cut off upon hearing the gunshots, causing everyone in the perimeter to keep their heads down.
"If anyone moves! I will kill you all!" A young, deranged man had appeared with a gun in his hand.
"Mr. Jung!" Ara shouted as she found her boss, lying on the cold hard ground, blood dripping from his knees. She knelt down in panic, hands trembling as she didn't know what to do.
