Narrator's POV
Hours, days, nights, weeks of preparing for the bar and just pouring everything into it never goes wrong because as long as you are prepared, you could nail it. Nari got through the first and second day of examination yesterday and as soon as she comes home, she reviewed for the last day which is today.
She is quite relieved that it'll be over in just a few hours. However, nervous at the same time because she feels that what she did was never enough. As soon as the examination was over, Nari and Mingyu had come out.
"That was one hell of an exam," Mingyu whined as he chuckled.
"Well, at least it's over now," Nari reassured as they got out of the building.
"I can taste freedom," Mingyu took a deep breath with eyes closed as Nari laughed at him.
"We still have to wait for the bar results,"
"Yeah, but at least we get to take a break for now,"
"Oh hey dad!" Mingyu walked towards his father who stood by the parking lot along with Hyunsuk. Nari trailed behind Mingyu as they approach the two elders who are conversing in the lot while smoking cigarettes.
"Mingyu!" Mingyu's father exclaimed with a smile.
"Great," Nari muttered under her breath.
"Hello, Mr. Kim," Nari greeted with a bow to Mingyu's father who stood beside his son.
"Oh hey Nari, it's nice to see you,"
"You too, sir," They had a short catching up before Mingyu and his father left, leaving Nari and her Hyunsuk.
"Glad you could make it on the last day," Nari sarcastically spoke as she hopped in the passenger's seat while her dad began the engine and proceeded to driving.
"I've been handling an active high-profile case, and you know that because I messaged you," Hyunsuk responded as Nari crossed her arms and looked out the window to avoid his gaze.
The old man could not help but to stifle a sigh. "I get that you're still mad about the argument last time, but I swear to God, Nari. I would do everything it takes to protect you because you are my daughter,"
"I get that you are against corruption and y-you just don't get it--you don't know what a parent like me feels like," Nari mentally sighed as the car halted due to the red light.
Hyunsuk had touch her shoulders with his palm, gently. "Nari, please don't be like this. You're the only one I have left," Nari turned to him only to meet his sympathetic eyes.
"I could never afford to lose you,"

The two eventually made up right after weeks of grudges and such. Hyunsuk decided to treat his daughter to a grand, fancy, five-star Michelin restaurant because she earned it after all those sleepless nights of reviews.
"You have five months of break, what do you plan on doing?" the old man asked as he took a sip of his wine.
"I kind of want to travel," Nari responded.
"Okay, where?" The man asked.
"Hmm, I don't know," Nari tried to think of a place, but she just couldn't since she has traveled to almost all the countries and went to places that people want to.
"Well, what's on your mind right now?" Hyunsuk asked as the waiter came and served their meal.
Nari's eyes landed on the green leaf garnish on top of her food. "Probably somewhere quiet and calm like an island, beach or something. The city's too much for me, I need somewhere to unwind," Nari chuckled at her father.
"I also just want to stay there for just five days because I still want to come back here and catch up some of my friends," Since Nari's a busy law student, she never really got to keep up with her friends who are not in law school, especially her childhood friends whom she has not been in contact with for a year since she was busy preparing for the last year of law school.
"Well, I got you, honey. I'll look it up for you," the old man smiled.

After the dinner they had, the two hopped inside the car and was about to go home when Hyunsuk pulled something from the back seat which is a small shopping bag. "A little gift for my little best girl,"
"Wow, dad thanks," Nari gasped in awe as she opened the bag, only to find a lipstick and a jewelry box.
"I didn't know what shade you like, but I tried my best and even consulted my secretary about that," Nari pulled out the dark red-colored liquid lipstick and immediately applied it to her lips before looking at the mirror.
"I like the shade, dad! thanks a lot!" Hyunsuk was relieved and was happy to see his daughter like the gift.
"Well, I'm glad that you like it, you should try on the jewelry later! I'm pretty sure it will fit you right!" he exclaimed, excitedly as he proceeded to drive.
Nari took a peek at the box and saw a set of diamond earrings, necklace and bracelet which made her smiled. "But dad, why a gift? I mean, we're not even sure if I'll pass the bar," Her dad smiled at her, softly.
"It's just a little something something to make you happy because you earned it,"
"if you don't pass the bar, it's okay. You can just be a juris doctor and that's cool to me—as long as you are working hard, then I'm satisfied," he reassured as Nari smiled at him.
"Dad thanks a lot like for real!" she exclaimed.
"Anything for my daughter," he smiled back.
