Chapter Thirteen: Defeating the Jester

So, I'm not sure how long we were asleep but, the next thing we knew, everyone had been freed from the traps! And the curtain that was behind them had fallen down and I'm guessing the Jester is under there. Dorothy was here too! I knew she'd come for us! We all had a reunion hug just as the Jester and his monkey came out from the fallen curtain. The monkey was running away with the scepter. The Jester ran after it and so did we. If we want to stop the Jester, we need that scepter. The two of them ran up to one of the towers outside.

Toto ran ahead to most likely distract them while we caught up. Dorothy also ran ahead. The boys and I caught up but stopped halfway to them. The Jester was holding Toto over the edge of the tower! Scarecrow started to calculate something in his head. It's almost strange seeing him with a brain now. He's probably smarter than Einstein. Scarecrow asked Tinman to give him his arm. He did and Scarecrow made it into a boomerang and threw it. It hit the monkey making it drop the scepter. The Jester dropped Toto and tried to catch the scepter!

Dorothy caught Toto but was now hanging onto a weak awning. The Jester did manage to grab the scepter but the crystal ball fell off and rolled down the stairs. Me and the boys made no attempt to grab it and just let it roll away. The awning then broke under Dorothy and she started to fall with Toto in her arms. Everything felt like it was in slow motion as we ran to try and do something. But, thankfully, Wiser saved her. Wait a minute, he's flying! He's actually flying! We just ran to the courtyard. We arrived to see Tugg, Marshal, and the Princess! But Tugg was different now.

He looked like a battleship but on wheels. The Jester was still chasing that crystal ball and failing to get it. When we arrived, we saw Tugg's new look and the army from Candy County and Dainty China Country! Here come the Flying Monkeys. We all got on the back of Tugg to some of the weapons. I helped Scarecrow on the Catapult. We fired the catapult while Lion and Wiser fired two cannons on the side. We fired at the Monkeys to try and keep them away from us. But some of them did reach us and started to fight.

I took a Candy Cane I saw just lying around and just started to whack them with it. Everyone was doing their part to fight off the monkeys. I think it soon got to the point where they had enough and just flew off. But I think I have a plan to get the scepter from the Jester. He said that he wanted me to be his harlequin. Well, if I can trick him into thinking I've agreed, I can get close to him and take the scepter. I just hope it works. He stood up from one of the towards and said a spell that was aimed at us. It was a Twister! He explained that, since we first came here in a twister, we will die in one too!

Not happening! Dorothy told everyone to take cover but I ran to the entrance instead. The Twister seemed to know where I was and went after me. It knocked down part of the wall but that didn't stop me from going up the stairs. The Twister just followed, taking the stairs with it. But I made it inside okay and made my way to the Jester. He thought he had won until I came up. I got his attention and told him exactly what he wanted to hear. I was joining his side. He let me come closer and told me to watch as the Twister took Dorothy.

I didn't because I grabbed the scepter and started a tug of war with it while the Crystal was changing between Purple and (F/C). But the scepter just gave in and let me have control, pushing the Jester away. What happened? I stood up and the Twister was trying to take the Jester. Dorothy, who I didn't realize had come up here with Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion, ran after him and grabbed his hand. She was trying to save him. I guess trying to give him a second chance this time instead of what happened to the Witch. The rest of us decided to help anyway.

"(Y/N), Dorothy, I'm forever in your debt. The least I can do is, oh, I don't know, perhaps help you rule Oz?" The Jester asked

"Oz has its leaders, and they don't need this to rule," I said smashing the crystal ball.

I threw the broomstick into the Twister and the Jester jumped in with it! And, just like that, the Twister and the Jester were gone. I turned back to the boys and Dorothy. Scarecrow was the first to run up and give me a hug which I happily returned. The other three joined in as Wiser flew up with Marshal, the princess, and Toto. And Glinda appeared too. She's a sight for sore eyes.

"Oh, Glinda. It's you. It's really you," Dorothy said smiling

"Yes. The Jester's spell is broken, and we couldn't have done it without you and (Y/N)," Glinda said smiling

"Oh, it wasn't just me. I couldn't have done it without all of you."

"But Kansas must be missing you by now."

"I'd love to stay, but I do think I'm ready to go home."

"Whatever will we do without you?" Marshal asked

"There will always be a rainbow when you need one most," Dorothy said smiling

"Goodbye, you two," Scarecrow said looking sad.

"Goodbye, my friends."

"Goodbye, Dorothy," Lion said also looking sad

Tinman started to cry as Wiser told us that, for the first time ever, he was lost for words. But then tried to tell us a story he remembered but Dorothy cut him off with a hug. Tinman gave Dorothy Toto. You know, I feel bad for leaving again. I don't want to go. I have nothing to go home to so, maybe I should stay. You know what, that's what I'll do.

"Goodbye, you two. And thank you," Glinda said smiling

"Wait! I don't want to go back," I said quickly.

"What? Why?" Dorothy asked.

"To be honest, I have nothing to get home to except a broken home. And, Oz has grown on me quite a lot. I'm sorry, Dorothy but I really want to stay. I'm sure we'll see each other again someday."

"Okay. I'm happy with your choice. I'll see you again soon," Dorothy smiled.

"Goodbye and good luck with everything back in Kansas."

I stood back as Glinda worked her magic. She made a rainbow appear which took Dorothy back home. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for me here. We returned to Emerald City which was looking much better than before and got some much-needed rest.
