Chapter Twenty-Nine: Good for you!

Ozma has grown these past few months. She's not started teething yet, she's just about ready to crawl, and she can sit up on her own now. Not that I allow her to do that often because I'm usually holding her or have her sit on my lap while I work. I don't really let her out of my sight. I think I'm more than a  protective brother at this rate. I just want Ozma to be safe which is the same with Maddie.

Although, Maddie has almost completely stopped sending letters to me. I'm just assuming she's busy with schoolwork like I'm busy with my work. Ozma is with (Y/N) today for some mother and daughter time. I'm not going to stop them because it's good to have a healthy relationship with both parents. I was working on the usual things until I was interrupted by Tinman bursting in and scaring the life out of me. I asked him why he was here and why he couldn't have knocked instead of scaring me. I'm supposed to be the Scarecrow.

Tinman just told me to read a letter he got from Maddie today. So, I took it off him and had a read. Ignoring the very friendly start, Maddie explained that she was being bullied at school. I was confused as to why until I read that it was because of me. Why me? What did I do? But she certainly wasn't afraid to insult and blame me for it. That explains why she doesn't talk to me anymore. Taking Tinman with me, the two of us went to Shiz in the Flying Machine to talk with Maddie and maybe solve this problem.

I want to get there quickly, that's why we're taking the Flying Machine. It didn't take long to get there and we landed in a nearby field. We ran to Shiz University where we managed to catch Maddie before she went inside for her next class. She didn't seem pleased to see me.

"Why didn't you tell me you were being bullied? Why did you only tell Tinman and why haven't you been responding to my letters?" I asked her.

"Why do you care anyway? It's your fault this is happening!" Maddie snapped, "If it weren't for you being in love with the Wicked Witch of the West, or you being a terrible leader of Oz, or you're obsession with (Y/N), this wouldn't be happening!"

"A terrible leader? The Witch? (Y/N)? What are you talking about? The Witch thing is all in the past, I'm doing quite well as the King of Oz, and I'm not that obsessed with (Y/N) anymore. All these are just silly little things."

"Things you caused! And you won't stop bragging about the things going great in your life! What about mine? You never ask or even tried to help me with my life! It's all about you, (Y/N), and Ozma! Another addition of the family that ruined everything in my life!"

"Don't you dare bring Ozma into this. She's only six months old! She has no part in anything you think I've caused!" 

"Calm down, both of you. This arguing isn't solving anything!" Tinman said splitting us up. 

"Stay out of it, Tinman!" Maddie told him

"I won't! Now, both of you stop this argument, and let's approach this better. Maddie, you tell Scarecrow what's on your mind, and then Scarecrow will have his turn."

I guess this is a better approach. I stayed quiet to let Maddie rant.

'So you found a place where the grass is greener and you jumped the fence to the other side. Is it good? Are they giving you a world I could never provide?' Maddie asked me, 'Well I hope you're proud of your big decision. Yeah, I hope it's all that you want and more. Now you're free from the agonizing life you were living before! And you say what you need to say so that you get to walk away. It would kill you to have to stay trapped when you've got something new. Well, I'm sorry you had it rough and I'm sorry I'm not enough. Thank God they rescued you!'

'So you got what you always wanted, so you got your dream come true. Good for you! Good for you, you, you. Got a taste of a life so perfect. So you did what you had to do. Good for you! Good for you! Does it cross your mind to be slightly sorry? Do you even care that you might be wrong? Was it fun? Well, I hope you had a blast while you dragged me along!'

My turn, 'And you say what you need to say and you play who you need to play and if somebody's in your way, crush them and leave them behind!'

'Well, I guess if I'm not of use, go ahead, you can cut me loose! Go ahead now, I won't mind,' We told each other

'I'll shut my mouth and I'll let you go. Is that good for you? Would that be good for you, you, you?' Maddie asked me, 'I'll just sit back while you run the show. Is that good for you? Would that be good for you, you, you?'

'All I need is some time to think but the boat is about to sink. Can't erase what I wrote in ink. Tell me how could you change the story? All the words that I can't take back like a train coming off the track 'cause the rails and my bones all crack. I've got to find a way to stop it, stop it! Just let me out!' I said over her and knowing now how much I've messed up

'So you got what you always wanted, so you got your dream come true. Good for you! Good for you, you, you! Got a taste of a life so perfect. Now you say that you're someone new! Good for you! Good for you! Good for you! Good for you! So you got what you always wanted!'

That's when Tinman stopped us again. We have definitely said enough. I tried to apologize but Maddie didn't want to hear it. She wanted nothing to do with me and she guaranteed that I wouldn't be invited to her graduation and I won't be seeing her back in the Emerald City. With that, she walked off. I looked at Tinman who only gave me a sympathetic look. Well, I want to do something right while I'm here which is to stop this bullying. I'm going to find whoever has been doing this and give them a good talking to.
