Chapter Twenty-One: As Long As You're Mine

I have looked everywhere for (Y/N) but she's nowhere in the city. I'm only looking around the city in case she was on a walk but she's not here. Well, there's possibly only one place she can be. The palace. I ran back there and looked everywhere, calling out for her. I soon found her in her room packing some things ready to go home tomorrow. But she was crying. I walked in.

"Don't talk to me," (Y/N) said seeing me walk in.

"(Y/N), I swear to you that didn't happen! Glinda explained it to us!" I started to explain, "Elphaba turned me into a scarecrow to save my life and told Glinda to wipe my memory of everything! I swear to you, I haven't been lying to you! I don't remember a thing! I Just remember being stuffed and sewn together by the Munchkin Farmer and two days later I met you and Dorothy!"

"You're not keeping me here, Scarecrow. Or should I call you Fiyero?"

"Don't call me that. I'm not Fiyero anymore. I'm Scarecrow. I'm the leader of Oz. I'm the scarecrow who wanted a brain. I'm your scarecrow. I'm the scarecrow that you became friends with so long ago! Please don't leave! You can ask Glinda herself about everything I've just said!"

"Scarecrow, you don't understand!" (Y/N) said shutting me up, "I was actually starting to return your feelings for me. I was going to tell you after the show tonight but then I saw that and my heart broke! Now I can't trust you the way I did in case you lie again."

She loves me back? Now I just feel like I've made a big mistake!

"(Y/N), I promise, I will never, ever lie to you again. Not unless I really have to. And you don't have to leave. We can still be together, we can be a couple, we can rule Oz together and never have to think about this night again. Just give me another chance, I'm begging you!" I begged.

(Y/N) looked away and went to her window. She sat on the ledge and looked out to the night sky. I hope she's thinking about it.

'Kiss me too fiercely, hold me too tight. I need help believing you're with me tonight,' (Y/N) said, 'My wildest dreamings could not foresee lying beside you with you wanting me. And just for this moment, as long as you're mine, I've lost all resistance and crossed some borderline. And if it turns out it's over too fast, I'll make every last moment last as long as you're mine.'

"You can have me. I'll be yours. Just give me a chance," I said kneeling in front of her, 'Maybe I'm brainless, maybe I'm wise but you've got me seeing through different eyes. Somehow I've fallen under your spell and somehow I'm feeling it's up that I fell.'

'Every moment as long as you're mine. I'll wake up my body and make up for lost time,' We said together

'Say there's no future for us as a pair,' I said hoping that she wouldn't

'And though I may know, I don't care,' we said as (Y/N) joined me on the floor, 'Just for this moment. As long as you're mine, come be how you want to and see how bright we shine. Borrow the moonlight until it is through. And know I'll be here holding you. As long as you're mine.'

We just sat there staring at each other until (Y/N) looked away for a moment.

"What is it?" I asked hoping it was something good

"It's just... For the first time... I feel... loved!" (Y/N) said looking at me.

I was slightly confused until she kissed me. Without any hesitation, I kissed her back and held her close to me. We pulled away and (Y/N) gave me a hug. I want this moment to last forever. If (Y/N) does decide to leave, I'll never have this feeling ever again. But she soon told me something that made my night. She changed her mind. She's staying in Oz and giving me a second chance. Thank goodness. I hugged her a little tighter when I heard that.

And after so long of only dreaming of this moment, we said our first 'I Love you's. I've always wanted to have that special lovers moment where we told each other we loved each other. We stayed like this for a while until (Y/N) told me she was feeling tired. I let her go and let her get ready for bed. I just left the room to write about what happened today in my journal. Although it feels more like a diary really. Once I had finished, I decided to read some of what I had written a long time ago.

I picked a random page which was the day I called Tinman and Lion over to stand guard of the Witches broomstick while I contacted (Y/N) and Dorothy. It still feels like all that happened recently. As I read on, I found myself falling asleep. I need to stop falling asleep at my desk. And now I wished I didn't because I had a nightmare about when the three of us met the Jester for the first time. That's a day I wish I could forget. I woke up after the Jester finished the song about what life was like growing up for him.

I swear, I could still hear his laugh ring in my head even after I woke up. I tried to just go to bed after that but I couldn't sleep. Just the fact I was alone didn't really help. Every time I closed my eyes, I could see the memory replaying over and over. This might be testing my luck, but I've heard that being with the ones you love can make you feel safer or help calm your troubled mind. In other words, I want to test my luck with being with (Y/N) for a night.

It won't be weird either since we're a couple. Or is it still weird? I guess I'll find out. But I'm not going to just join her and let her see me in the morning and scare her. I'm going to ask first. So, I left my room and went back to hers. I didn't want to wake her but I gently woke her up.

"It's just me, don't worry," I said

"Why aren't you asleep?" (Y/N) asked rubbing her eyes

"Nightmare and I couldn't get back to sleep. So, I was wondering if I could be with you tonight since I heard that being with the people you love helps calm you down. I understand if I'm pushing my luck since we just got together but... I thought I'd ask."

"Scarecrow, it was just a dream. You should be fine. But do you want to talk about it?"

"Not really. I just don't want to be alone right now."

I must sound so pathetic to say that and ask something like that. But she didn't tell me to leave. She let me join her saying that she would do this with her parents as a child and what I said does work. So, I joined her and we fell asleep again. No nightmares for the rest of the night. But I will start being a better lover after this because I was seriously pushing my luck with this. I hope the future goes a little bit better.
