(Nico goes down with Dallas into the third rail for a drink while they wait for Curie to download)
(Dallas gets some whiskey, and Nico sticks to nuka cola)
Dallas: What, can't hold your liquor?
Nico: It's not that. I just don't like drinking alcohol. Plus, being drunk isn't a good look for an elder of the brotherhood of steel
Dallas: Touche
Winlock: I can't say I'm surprised to find you in a dump like this, Maccready
(Nico's eyes shoot wide open, and he heads into the back room to see an adult version of Maccready arguing with two gunners named Winlock and Barnes)
Maccready: I was wondering how long it would take your bloodhounds to track me down, Winlock. It's been almost three months. Don't tell me you're getting rusty. Should we take this outside?
Winlock: It ain't like that. I'm just here to deliver a message
Maccready: In case you forgot, I left the gunners for good
Winlock: Yeah, I heard. But you're still taking jobs in the commonwealth. That isn't going to work for us
Maccready: I don't take orders from you. Not anymore. So why don't you take your girlfriend and walk out of here while you still can?
Barnes: What?! Winlock, tell me we don't have to listen to this shit
Winlock: Listen up, Maccready. The only reason we haven't filled your body full of bullets, is that we don't want a war with goodneighbor. You see, we respect other people's boundaries. We know how to play the game. It's something you never learned
Maccready: Glad to have disappointed you
Winlock: You can play the tough guy all you want. But if we hear you're still operating inside gunner territory, all bets are off. You got that?
Maccready: You finished?
Winlock: Yeah. We're finished. Come on, Barnes
Dallas: You two work for the gunners?
Barnes: Yeah. What's it to you?
(Dallas's helmet eyes glow red)
Dallas: I hate the gunners
(Dallas draws both of his revolvers and shoots Winlock and Barnes at the same time)
Maccready: Well, I guess that takes care of those two meatheads. If you're preaching about the atom or looking for a friend, you've got the wrong guy. If you need a hired gun, then maybe we can talk
Nico: Maccready? Is that you?
Maccready: Nico? Oh my god, it's really you!
(Maccready and Nico one-armed hug)
Dallas: You two know each other?
Maccready: This guy helped me rescue some of my friends from slavers when I was a kid
Nico: Yeah, about ten years ago in the capital wasteland. Good times. How you been?
Maccready: Honestly? Terrible
Nico: Oh? What happened?
Maccready: When I left the capital wasteland, I didn't just leave behind little lamplight. I left my family behind. I married Lucy and we had a son named Duncan. He's the one a made a promise to. A promise to clean up my act and be a better person. I guess that sounds pretty stupid coming from a guy who shoots people for a living
