(Nathan and Dogmeat take a walk through diamond city until they reach Valentine detective agency)
(Inside, they find a woman sorting through case files looking very depressed)
Ellie: I told you your luck wouldn't last forever. And his ties? Oh Nick...
Dogmeat: (Sad dog noise)
Nathan: Something wrong?
Ellie: Another stray coming in from the rain... Afraid you're too late. The office is closed
Nathan: I know you're probably busy, but I won't take up much of your time. This is very important
(Ellie sighs)
Ellie: You're right. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. But it's just... The detective has gone missing
Nathan: Hmm. Ironic. Do you know how I can track him down?
Ellie: He disappeared working a case. Skinny Malone's gang kidnapped a young woman, and he tracked them down to their hideout in park street station. There's an old vault down there they use as a base. I told Nick he was walking into a trap, but he just smiled and walked out the door like he always does
Nathan: Then he's probably still there. I'll find him. That's a promise
Ellie: Thank you. Nick should be easy to spot. He's always wearing that old fedora and trench coat getup. Please hurry
Nathan: Hear that, boy? Park street station
Dogmeat: (Bark)
(Nathan and Dogmeat head to park street station, and they hear some voices inside. They look like old fashioned gangsters with submachine guns)
Triggerman: I'm telling ya, joining Skinny Malone's crew was the best decision we've ever made. I mean, look at this place
Triggerman: I still say Malone's weak. He finds that detective snooping around and he just locks him up. Like he ain't got the balls to just kill him
Triggerman: Don't let his new girl hear ya say that. She'll swing that bat of hers at your face until there ain't no face left
(Nathan sneaks up behind a triggerman, puts him into a choke hold, and snaps his neck. He takes the triggerman's submachine gun and knife)
